Soy Hypatia,
y todavía siento en la piel el polvo dorado de Alejandría.
Mi pasión nació temprano,
cuando era apenas una niña que escuchaba a mi padre
hablar de números como quien habla de dioses.
Él abrió la puerta,
pero fui yo quien decidió no volver a cerrarla.

Crecí amando preguntas,
mientras muchos me miraban como si ese amor fuera un desafío.
Ser mujer y pensar demasiado
no era una combinación del agrado de todos;
algunos me despreciaban por ello,
otros simplemente temían que acabara teniendo razón.

La geometría me sostuvo,
la filosofía me afiló la voz,
y los astros me recordaron que nadie nace para arrodillarse.
Quizá por eso, a mis cuarenta y tantos —
cuando la ciudad ya hervía de fanáticos—
me convirtieron en objetivo.

Sí, me mataron.
No por un acto,
sino por un hábito:
pensar sin permiso.
Aquel día, Alejandría sonó como una puerta que se rompe,
y yo me fui del mundo,
pero no de la historia.

Porque la carne se extingue,
pero lo que amamos con fuerza
queda flotando en el aire,
esperando otra mente libre
que lo respire.

Random thought, but since #DivestOS has shut down, what happens to #Hypatia antivirus? Did it have other contributors outside of that project? Will they keep developing it? All the "donate" links on its GitHub go to the Divest page, but I'm not sure how independent Hypatia is or isn't. I use #CalyxOS and Hypatia is included or endorsed by them, so I'm sort of curious.
