Not that I didn't laugh my ass off, and not that he didn't deserve to get shellacked in front of the press corps, but if I were on Obama's writing staff, I'd have toned down the Trump ownage a bit in hindsight. I'd be ok with BO taking #trump aside and just viciously excoriating that mothball-smelling mfer in close range though.

At 8, my guess would be it would either take multiple poundings of the shears to get past the spinal column bones for purposes of damaging the cord barring extreme luck. Especially from the back. An initial penetration might be augmented with a whack from a modestly-heavy blunt object to push them deeper. The front of the throat would have less bone to contend with and could more readily penetrate an artery with much less strength/force requirement.

People in masks are kidnapping Americans off the street. Some of these people claim to be ICE agents--also problematic, because ICE's jurisdiction to do this is not established--but who the fuck knows? Random dudes in masks are grabbing people.
Also, people are being sent to hell-prison in another country with no due process, even when the US regime admits they have done nothing wrong.
Purely hypothetically (I am definitely not a person who would do any of this):
Wondering what happens if someone getting snatched, or a helpful onlooker, pulls out a legally registered firearm and shoots the attacker, who is not identified as law enforcement in any way except verbally and who is not following anything remotely like due process for arrests.
Wondering what happens if a bunch of ex-special forces folks or whatever stage a wild prison break in El Salvador and free a bunch of Americans or American residents. Of course El Salvador would get pissy but what would/could the US do? There was no legal basis for sending them there in the first place.
Overall, I'm just wondering what the legal/practical landscape is, now that our government is explicitly violating laws in ways that hurt innocent people. What happens if people legally fight back? What happens if people fight back in ways that aren't legal but are also arguably not illegal?
This whole thing is a can of all the fucking worms.
(Note: I know that the real answer to the first scenario is probably "ICE, the president, and cops come down on the person like a ton of bricks and neither Congress nor the courts will defend them even when they have behaved lawfully").

It's been 17 years since the crash. Millions of tiny lights flash overhead, like the fireflies that used to inhabit the South and East. School children are still taught about stars, and constellations, even though no one has seen them in almost two decades. You can't make them out in the static.
There are still rumors about how it all happened. A math error, bad actors from a foreign government, an accident. All media speculation. I prefer the folk tales. Space became a haven for the wealthy. Private flights for their friends, and swarms of thousands of satellites, controlling the flow of information. So, we took it from them. Poisoned their well so to speak.
No one is saying exactly how it happened, not that it's important. It may have been more than one of us. Changed the course of a few, initiated a subtle burn. Someone hacked into the swarm, and turned them into their own demise.
Nothing, and no one, can go there anymore. People have tried. Missions have been launched to clean up the debris, but it just added to the problem. When a thousand satellites crash into a thousand more, the devastation at tens of thousands of kilometers per hour is immense. Nothing survives in low earth orbit, and the satellites at higher orbits are useless. Hard to get a signal through all that chaff. Like peering through the fog.
We don't mind though. The light show at night is kind of pretty. Occasionally you can catch a collision, flashes of yellow or white, the explosion of a thousand more shards.
The talking heads say it may be hundreds of years before it all falls to earth. No more launches, no more swarms, no more escape. They're trapped here, with us, as we read about extinct insects, and sleep through the warm winters. Waiting, for it all to come crashing down.
