The bumblebees are very happy with the Hyssop flowers this morning!

There is also a much smaller pollinator resting on a tiny purple hyssop flower in the lower right.

Pollinator plant bed update. The purple coneflowers and bergamot bee balm have started to bloom The anise hyssop has had flowers for a week or so. There are still giant pansies and Johnny jump ups blooming and lots of blue borage and calendula getting flowers.

A purple coneflower that has pink petals and looks sorta like a daisy except it's 4 feet in the air.Bee balm flower, monarda, that is pink in color. It has spiky petals in a cluster. The background is 95% bee balm foliage.Several flower stalks of anise hyssop. The flowers are purple in color. The plant leaves look like mint or catnip. It smells like licorice.. or anise. Two deep yellow calendula flowers, yellow pansies, dark purple pansies, blue borage, strawberry plants, yellow/white/purple viola tricolors, a hazel sapling, some small eastern europe type sage, many things really.

The pollinator circle was cleaned up. I think the rudbeckia hirta won't grow back except from seed after it's second winter.. I might fill that slice in with one of the perennials. Not easy to plug seedlings in there when it's full of bloom in the late summer and I'm not sure a spring planting will go 2 years if it blooms the 1st. The hyssop, purple coneflower, and bergamot are growing.

A photo showing a circular plant bed with a short green fence around it. It appears to have not much in it after last years dead foliage was removed. There are some stakes, decorative concrete quail, sprinklers, some loppers there. Beyond it to the left slightly is the pile of brown stalks and stuff. Beyond it to the right is another flower bed that isn't fully cleaned up and the base of a flagpole visible in the middle of the photo. Beyond that are two geese pretending for the moment that they get along before the next fight of spring. There are two bird houses generally to the left of the geese near the top of the photo. The ground around everything in the photo is mostly lawn or pasture and most of it is not very green but still brown from the winter freeze.

Mostly rudbeckia hirta with the anise hyssop, purple coneflower, and bergamot bee balm around it. The rudbeckia was planted in exactly one fifth of the circular bed.

A photo nearly full of various flowers. In the foreground is a mass of rudbeckia hirta that are yellow mixed with some anise hyssop that is light purple-ish towards the left and a few purple coneflowers behind the hyssop that are pink. Tall and behind the rudbeckia are bergamot bee balm which is a pink or light lavender color. In the upper right are some hanging planters with mostly petunias, and in the upper left there are a few hollyhock flowers barely visible.

Aren't they incredible???

I grew this Anise Hyssop (#Agastache foeniculum) from seed. It was fairly tame the first two years, but it really took over this summer. In fact, it has crowded out a significant chunk of the Wild Bergamot! It is drought-tolerant (I haven’t watered it since the first year - low maintenance! 😁) and it attracts tons of pollinators.

I saw a bee on the hyssop, the rudbeckia is almost open, the purple coneflower stems are longer and the heads spikier, also a too many weird spots ladybug on the hyssop.

A small Agastache foeniculum Anise Hyssop flower with a asian ladybug on a leaf to the right. The flower has many pointy tip petals in a spike of sorts that isn't very big yet. It is a bright lavender color.A rudbeckia hirta flower that the petals are just starting to unfurl and the brown center is visible. The little not-leaf things around the flower are fuzzy. The petals are yellow.
An echinacea purpurea purple coneflower blossom that is still green and spiky but the stem is growing longer. The not-leaf parts around the flower are dark green, and the rim of the spiky part is light green and larger and the center is an in between green and small and spiky and dense.A larger, or taller, flower of the Agastache foeniculum Anise Hyssop. This is where I saw the bee but it is not in the image.

Small pinkish purple hyssop blooms emerging in a stand of plants now nearly 5 feet tall in my front garden. In the background are bee balm plants even taller than the hyssop. The bee balm won't bloom for a couple more weeks.

There have been many times when I've helped my dad out in the garden, or when I've helped with a garden at work back when I was on grounds crew in college, but it has been awhile.  This year I finally started growing some plants on the balcony.  Really happy to see my hyssop blooming. #hyssop #gardening #plants #flower

Pollinator bed has a little bit of hyssop that's blooming and the rudbeckiais close and the purple coneflower stems are getting longer with a flower like thing on the end. Monarda fistulosa Bergamot bee balm is 5 feet tall and still growing.

The edible border is probably all growing. Viola, Pansies, Borage, Calendula, and Nasturtium which is pictured.

A closeup photo of rudbeckia hirta flower starting to open. The yellow petals are visible and the dark brown center.A closeup photo of echinacea purpurea flower bud that is still green. It has a very spiky and patterned appearance.A closeup photo of a small bloom of Agastache foeniculum Anise hyssop. It is a sort of light lavender color.A Nasturtium Tropaeolum Nanum that has 3 leaves now after seed was planted 2 weeks ago. There is a likely hops clover in the upper right, a calendula partially obscured by a leaf in the lower left direction, and tiny sprouts that are some sort of viola probably.

@Sahkshi These would be the seed sellers I'd go for (for planting, don't eat these because they might be treated against pests and funguses with stuff that wouldn't be good for your liver) allianceofnativeseedkeepers.co but they may also know where you can get culinary hyssop local to where you are #Hyssop

@Sahkshi Batso. While I can make delicious loubiyeh b'zeit with za'atar bought in a Dublin shop. Never knew it was hyssop! Maybe hyssop should become for Palestine what the sunflower is for Ukraine
