These are different groups of people today acting in exactly the same ways as 1850s slave hunters.
American sentiment toward slavery started a major turnabout following the 1851 signing of the fugitive slave law. As long as the law was an abstraction, Americans thought the slavery question had been settled. Then slave hunters started appearing on city streets in non-slavery states and disappearing people. The American turn against slavery was not quick but it was certain and it became overwhelming. ICE thugs could cause something very similar to happen today. I believe it will.
