I have both. I can't speak for yours, but I can say mine are comparable. Mental or emotional or whatever kind of pain are still pain: unpleasant discomfort beyond what an individual considers tolerable.
And if it lasts a while: chronic.

Hence depression is chronic pain.
Also chronic illness or chronic sickness. Since it doesn't tend to be acute or short-term, after all.
(I mean maybe, for transient stressors sure. Not if you have no "premorbid personality" since it started so young, probably.)
