TWO TREMENDOUSLY OVERLOOKED TRACKS
Mastodon Post

According to Bandcamp, as of today, May 15, 2025, I am the only person who has bought either of these two records; and it is a major pity. They are terrific, each in its own way.

More Than Words
by Extreme [Actually by Carolyn Mehta]

missmehta.bandcamp.com/track/m

"More Than Words" by Carolyn Mehta is a cover of a massive 1990 Extreme hit sung very prettily. The Extreme single was playing somewhere in the world 24/7 for months. While this is a cover, it differs from the original Extreme version mainly by being sung in female voices. (Even if done with overdubbing, it still features melody and harmony voices.) In one short passage, it reminds of circa-1970 Beach Boys harmony. I would not want to be without "More Than Words" by Carolyn Mehta. Five Stars for beautiful singing.

I'm Looking Through You
from Next To You by Jenny Reynolds

jennyreynolds1.bandcamp.com/tr

"I'm Looking Through You" by Jenny Reynolds is not a cover but rather it is an interpretation. I remember Jenny Reynolds as a singer-songwriter in and around Boston probably in the early 2000s. This recording of a greatly neglected Beatles song shows her to have made herself into a real song stylist. Web searches seem to show that this is Reynolds' most streamed track and it ought to sell. Five Stars for artistic growth and for giving a new look to a mid-60s song. It is a wonderful match of song and singer.

"You Won't See Me" is a song by the English rock band #theBeatles from their 1965 album #RubberSoul. It was written by #PaulMcCartney and credited to #LennonMcCartney. As with songs such as "#WeCanWorkItOut" and "#ImLookingThroughYou" from the same period, the lyrics address McCartney's troubled relationship with #JaneAsher and her desire to pursue her career as a stage and film actress.
