Erstmal ein Backup der Bilder auf den #Immich zu Hause :)

Falls ihr auch so ein Cloud-Verweigerer seid wie ich und euren Kram möglichst selbst hostet, sei euch für die Foto-Verwaltung #Immich ans Herz gelegt.
Meine Lieblingsfunktion ist die Rückschau, bei der euch Bilder vom gleichen Kalendertag der letzten Jahre angezeigt werden. Jeden Tag ist irgendein Foto oder Video dabei, dass einem den Tag versüßt.
Allein dafür hat sich der Installations-Aufwand gelohnt.

Well, today was a yak shaving expedition and a half, wanted to organise my photos a little, which made me realise there's been a decent amount of Immich releases since last I updated it, which needed a new ML extension on postgres, which lead me to finally move postgres away from the one included in the Immich helm chart, which lead me to update my main postgres as well.

After all this was done, I finally went to organise my photos, but honestly, the new ML extension makes Immich so much faster that it was worth it.

Immich keeps on positively surprising me.

Was #immich definitiv fehlt ist eine Funktion „Bei RAW+JPEG Import, behalte nur eins von beidem.

Importing all our photos (stored in git-annex) into #Immich (which doesn't use git-annex) I'm being bitten hard by :gitannex: #gitAnnex not really caring about file timestamps - many files end up at the date I last did some big git annex get or whatever 😩 Kind of expected though. Luckily, most files have a rather sensible timestamp, so I wrote some #Python that queries Immich and set timestamps from filenames. Very finnicky, but it worked.

Inzwischen kann ich:
- meine Bilder aus der iCloud Photo Mediathek - inklusive Metadaten* - exportieren
- die Bilder in jpgXL umwandeln
- die Bilder in immich rein laden

Die Metadaten sind dann auch da. ABER: Nur bis ich den Job "SIDECAR METADATEN Synchronisieren" ausführe, dann ist alles weg. 😑

*Alben + Favoriten Status gebe ich als Tag mit und muss ich dann im Anschluss per Tag suchen und <> Aktion nachtragen.

Have been looking for a self-hosted photo library for sometime and surprised I hadn't heard of #Immich before (probably did but was put off by being in docker). Took the plunge this week. Installation and set up were straightforward and really liking the system so far (mainly as a way to tidy up the family library)

#immich continues to get better and better. they released granular control for API keys. this is very timely for me. i just made a 7 inch immich-kiosk LCD photo frame. i don't want that API key to have any delete or create permissions.

Luckily, I have :nixos: #nix on my #SailfishOS phone, so getting the #Immich cli was super easy. `immich upload {Pictures,Videos}/Camera` was *much faster* than the Android app, checked locally for duplicates via hashes and uploaded the rest like a champ.

Initial impressions of the #Immich #Android app:

- the webinterface (even on mobile) is *much* more responsive and fluid than the app
- setting up the syncing is... weird. It keeps forgetting settings, gets stuck half way, doesn't continue after screen lock, seems to always upload everything, not check for duplicates on-device, etc. But eventually it does its job.
- We'll see how reliable the auto-upload is. I have heard of many issues.

Conclusion so far: Use the web app for browsing images.

Da war ich die Tage mal im Büro ... da lacht mich im Elektroschrott ein HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT i7-7700 an. Den durfte ich mitnehmen. Aus anderen Kisten 32GB RAM zusammengesucht und zu Hause die alten SSD und Festplattenbestände durchgesehen.

Nun läuft darauf ein Proxmox auf SSD und als Datengrab ein 660GB ZFS raidz (Raid5) Pool - für 0 Euro 😃

Im IDLE verbraucht der unter 15 Watt.

Oh noce. #Immich hat nun endlich auf iOS Widgets 😍

Installed Immich tonight on Debian 12. Had to install docker and wrap my head around that. I pointed an external library at the old Plex photo directory and so it will spend quite a few hours migrating those photos into the Immich environment. So far it looks good. Much better than Plex at photos, and with Plex creating separate apps for video and photos and now charging for remote access, it was time for a change.

Self-hosted, no Google Photos.

Après presque un an d'utilisation, j'ai fini par adopter #immich, la galerie photos/vidéos synchronisable entre votre smartphone/navigateur et votre cloud perso. J'en reparle parce que je trouve que l'appli n'est pas beaucoup connue et pourtant le projet mérite d'être soutenu. L'appli est dispo sur sur #IOS et #Android et si comme moi vous avez #degooglisé votre smartphone, l'appli est téléchargeable directement depuis #github. Côté serveur l'installation est simplifiée à son maximum grâce à l'utilisation du container #docker, il faut simplement télécharger le fichier docker-compose.yml l'éditer à sa sauce et faire un pull de l'image (fonctionne aussi sur #raspberry). Au 1er lancement de l'appli il faut renseigner https://gallery.mesnumeriques.fr vous serez redirigé vers mon serveur d'identification #authentik (ce n'est pas un tiers c'est chez moi 😉) et vous aurez la possibilité de vous inscrire et ensuite de vous identifier sur Immich.

Si vous galérez à passer de la fenêtre d'inscription à Immich, inscrivez-vous d'abord depuis un navigateur et une fois le compte créé loguez-vous depuis l'appli. Cette étape n'est nécessaire qu'une seule fois.

I have joined the #Immich cult and I am *very* impressed. :nixos: #NixOS made setup a breeze and it slurped 100GB of photos and videos like a champ while staying responsive. Facial recognition is amazing, a bit of manual merging and tagging is necessary, but that's expected. Also the keyword search works nicely - without you ever setting any 😁

For a workgroup that just wants to dump photos and search/tag later, I figured a single shared account works best.

Habe mir dann auch mal Immich auf meiner Synology installiert und meine gesamten Ordern mit Bildern und Videos als externe Library eingebunden. Dazu läuft aktuell der Sync vom iPhone. Aktuell steht der Zähler bei gut 285.000 Bildern und über 8000 Videos... 🙈 Der angegebene Speicherplatz scheint die externe Library aber nicht mitzurechnen. Insgesamt müssten das dann eher 13TB und nicht 14GB sein...
