I've been reading "Legends of the Dark Millennium: Astra Militarum" and now "Cadia Stands" and enjoying the stories. Especially Creed. The "down-and-dirty humanity and practicality" GrimDark while everyone around them is trying to be "correctly bureaucratic" GrimDark is great.

The Imperial Guard novels are so much better overall than the Space Marine novels. And I don't think it's just the authors.

(The Warhammer novels are better still, though)

🇵🇱 [PL] Po dłuższej przerwie znów chwyciłem za pędzel – i to od razu wracając do malowania Gwardii! Tak zadowolony z efektu nie byłem już dawno. Szczególną dumą napawa mnie podstawka: wyszła naprawdę świetnie i dodaje całości charakteru, ale sami gwardziści z ciężkim bolterem również prezentują się – moim zdaniem – bardzo dobrze!

Zapowiada się, że trzeba będzie malować częściej, bo kolejka rośnie w zastraszającym tempie: czekają już Votann, orkowie, Death Korps of Krieg i Deathwatch… Teraz tylko znaleźć na to wszystko czas!

🇺🇸 [ENG] After a long break, I’ve finally picked up the brush again – and I’m back to painting the Guard! I haven’t been this happy with a result in ages. I’m especially proud of the base: it turned out really great and gives the whole scene a lot of character. The Guardsmen themselves, with their heavy bolter, also turned out – in my opinion – really well!

Looks like I’ll have to paint more often, because the backlog is growing fast: Votann, Orks, Death Korps of Krieg, and Deathwatch are all waiting in line… Now I just need to find the time for all of it

Dwie pomalowane figurki żołnierzy Cadian 8th stoją na owalnej podstawce imitującej teren. Jeden z żołnierzy, ubrany w zielony hełm i zieleono-beżowy mundur, stoi z tyłu przy dużym ciężkim bolterze zamontowanym na statywie. Drugi żołnierz, wyposażony w radio na plecach, klęczy w pobliżu działa, trzymając w jednej ręce pistolet i wspiera obsługę ciężkiego boltera. Na podstawce widać imitację trawy i drobnych kamieni dla urealnienia sceny.

Widok od frontu na te same dwie figurki Cadian 8th, skupiony na ciężkim bolterze załadowanym na statywie. Pierwszy żołnierz obsługuje broń, podczas gdy drugi, z radiem i pistoletem, przygotowuje się do wsparcia działa. Na podstawce widoczne plastikowe imitacje roślinności terenowej oraz traw.

When I can help it, I try to avoid playing imperials vs imperials in 40K. A friend is learning to play Adeptus Custodes and last week my harlequins absolutely crushed him, so I don’t want to bring them again.

This week I’m being my totally loyal imperial guard force.

Pay no attention to the extra arms and purplish skin some of some of our auxiliary troops.

Played a game of Legion Imperialis. We did several things wrong, but had a lot of fun. It was a tight battle, but the mechanicum edged out a victory against my imperial guard.

Now to decide how to expand to a 1500 point list.
