Migrant, homeless and trans crowd to pay respects to #Pope Francis at funeral
A group of 40 people, including #migrants, the #incarcerated, #homeless people and #transgender people, will greet the late Pope Francis with white roses on the steps of the Basilica of St. Mary Major after his funeral on Saturday (April 26), the Vatican announced.
"The gesture of the white rose is a way to say ‘welcome home’ because he will go to the house of the father,” said Bishop Benoni Ambarus, secretary of the commission for migrations of the Italian Episcopal Conference and delegate for charitable initiatives, speaking to Vatican media outlets on Thursday. “It’s a rose to say thank you for what you have done for us.”

Canadian woman #incarcerated entering the country to go to a professional conference, despite holding all the appropriate paperwork.
And she's still there, eleven days later, in horrible conditions this country usually only reserves for the poor, the Black, and the brown.

I’m trying to spread the word to people I know about some #mutualAid for #incarcerated #firefighters here in #LA. the #ARC’s #firefighterFund is supporting teams of incarcerated firefighters on the #frontLines. #LAFD just deployed about 800 incarcerated firefighters to the front lines and to my knowledge they don’t get additional compensation beyond a $1hr increase of #hazardPay but most folks make between $5 and $10.30 a day 😤
