an absolutely fascinating post about what it means to be a game developer who tries to build what is true (an unconditional offering) vs. bargaining with god for fame (a conditional offering)

social media is replete with a whole lot of the latter, and so few of the former. it's exciting to see a developer who just gets it: marketing "yourself" is the golden road to solieri's self-imposed egocentric insanity.

i love that it equally applies across all creative disciplines - if you're not a game developer, just insert your favourite creative pastime instead.
