My ability to write goes in cycles: sometimes I can write for days and the words dance on the page. Other times I’m in a horrible creative rut and the proverbial music stops and the words hunker down and sulk and refuse to collaborate with me.

A bit of a curve-ball contribution to this month’s IndieWeb Carnival theme ‘Cycles and fluctuations’ hosted by Alex Sirac.

Sometimes I wish could just write about unicorns and rainbows.

Indieweb Carnival − Cycles and fluctuations

Through my window, I see trees the color of gold and copper and rust. I see the first traces of snow on the mountaintops. It's getting colder, but it's not truly cold yet. My swimsuit is retired, my ski boots not yet out. Classes have resumed and the sun goes down earlier every day. At the farmer's market, last week was the final tomato week; now it's all about leeks and squashes, and I try not to buy cabbage, because when cabbage season starts I'll be glad I'm not tired of it yet. "Ahamkara: the ego machine
This is my contribution to the Indieweb Carnival of October 2025, hosted by
Bix Frankonis.
The theme for this month is “ego”.
As shocking and unpleasant as they are, major disruptions to life can sometimes
serve to force us to change our perspective. I had obviously no desire or
intention of getting a long-lasting illness — nor do I
wish it upon anyone else. To be abundan (...)"

I did another blog post! I've really been enjoying coming up with topics and making illustrations to go with now that I've freed myself from attaching my blog to a portfolio.

This one is for #indieWebCarnival on the theme of ego hosted by @bixfrankonis. I feel a little self-conscious about it, but I'm trying to be more relaxed about putting my writing out there!

I realized late-to-the-party that I accidentally made a post that fit with the September theme of #indieWebCarnival! 🐦

Exciting IndieWeb Carnival theme this month: ego, hosted by @bixfrankonis

It's a really fitting theme for me as last night was a good healthy boost to my ego and I wanted to write about that anyway.

New blog post: beautifully perfect second person birds

This is my first ever entry for the Indieweb Carnival, on the theme of "Second Person Birds"

It was actually pretty fun to do, and I'd love to do more little one-off creative writing pieces like this in the future!

Second Person Birds: The Maltese Falcon

When I heard of this month's Indie Carnival theme the first thing that popped into my mind was The Maltese Falcon.

2025-09-20

For this month's IndieWeb Carnival, @fractalkitty invited us to write about Second Person Birds.

I decided to write about my favourite birds: Pokémon.
