#insectsaturday Two insects sought refuge on this tiny mushroom, that I happened to have in front of my lens. The mushroom didn't bend even a little under the weight of the "large" insect that landed on its cap. That's how light a fly is. I looked it up, and it might be a female fruit fly, but I'm not sure. I like the head with that big eye. I have no idea what the other insect is. It's so small that I didn't even notice it when I took a picture, a little bonus.

Slightly left of center is a tiny mushroom with a white and yellow cap, with beautiful folds in the cap and a very thin stem. The background is vague and orangey, with some green moss at the bottom of the photo. A tiny insect crawls up the stem. On the right edge of the cap sits a small fly (or something similar), but it looks very large compared to the mushroom's small cap. The fly has beautiful, large round eyes. The mushroom and the insect are very sharp.

🦋 Just saw this ragged Gulf Fritillary, surviving to the end of the season. Not surprised to see it because I do two things:
🔹 Maintain late-blooming flowers for butterflies to feed on
🔹 Allow native Passionvine (Passiflora incarnata) to grow in a large area. This is the *only* host plant for the caterpillars of this species.

🐛 Back in the Spring, I actually saw a caterpillar on a Passionvine leaf. Could this be the same individual?

😋 I add myself to the natural interconnection, a consumer of the Passionfruit and spreader of seeds.
