We had a long #stroll along the #River #Wandle near #Tooting. We stopped off to check out some #pestle and #mortars for grinding #spices. Also, to buy some #mint #plants and #sage. The #tangerine sage should be fun. It has red flowers. I wonder if it is a communist? The sage is #variegated. The mints are #chocolate #peppermint and another #vigerous grower.
Loads of #butterflies on our #traversing and very pleased to see a #newt (also available as a character). 😮
Also did some #sunbathing in the #morning. Will be #planting my new plants #tomorrow #inshallah (which means COD willing). 🦋

This is difficult to do, but I am asking my #community for your #support and #generosity to help my #family in #Gaza. My family has made the extremely difficult decision to flee their beloved #homeland after four months of constant #bombings, #violence, and #starvation. I am #fundraising for eight members of my family to evacuate Gaza and seek #safety and #stability.
My family was #violently #displaced from their home in #GazaCity and are now living in #Rafah in a tent structure with little #food, no potable #water, no #electricity and no access to necessary #medicine or care for my diabetic uncle. The eight people includes my cousin's four month old #baby, born during this #bombardment. Every day is a struggle for #survival as they must #scavenge for food and wood for cooking while simultaneously being #surrounded by #tanks and enduring constant bombardment.
I have started this fundraising campaign because it has become necessary for them to #evacuate to #Egypt for safety and stability. They have lost everything in this #war, including my uncle's business and the family's only source of income. He owned a beloved dessert restaurant in the community (Bubbles), which was destroyed early on.
Unfortunately, the cost of #escape and temporary #shelter in Egypt is more than my family or I can afford so I am relying on your generosity to help my family find some peace. This is for one branch of my family in Gaza, eight people, who are hoping to escape.
Your donation will get my family to safety and give them a chance to live a #dignified life. My family and I appreciate your #empathy and #compassion and I hope that I can transfer the funds as soon as possible as the situation in Rafah is continuing to worsen.

When I was in Morocco, the lodgings owner was a German woman, and she’d laugh as she told us how complicated the “inshallah” thing could be. It basically means “if god wills it”. Scheduling her staff was often met with “yes, I can work it — inshallah.” It’s at once a wish for things to go smoothly but also a wee plug of plausible deniability.
