Was lehrt uns die Fotografie fürs Leben? Einiges. Zum Beispiel die Langzeitfotografie, mit „Bulb“ auf der Kamera gekennzeichnet. Bulb erfordert Geduld, eine ruhige Hand, sichere Auflage der Kamera und Zeit. Gefühlt viel Zeit. Die Entlohnung sind außergewöhnliche Effekte. Und Bilder, die nur so und nicht anders möglich sind.

Schön für die Geduldigen. Ich bin nicht geduldig. Es gibt jedoch Situationen, in denen Geduld die beste Option ist. Nicht nur in der Fotografie.

What does photography teach us about life? Quite a lot. Take long-exposure photography, for example, marked "bulb" on the camera. Bulb requires patience, a steady hand, a secure camera mount, and time. What it feels like is a lot of time. The reward is extraordinary effects. And images that can only be created this way and no other.

Great for those who are patient. I am not patient. However, there are situations when patience is the best option. Not only in photography.

Überbelichtet. Fotografisch keine Heldentat. Unterbelichtet ist auch nicht schön. Von Unterbelichtung wird auch bei wirr redenden Menschen gesprochen. Überbelichte Menschen, also völlig verstrahlt, mit dem Quäntchen Zuviel, echte Freidreher, sind mir noch nicht so häufig begegnet. Bis kürzlich. Mit der Normabweichung darf man jetzt sogar politische Ämter begleiten. Fortschritt. So hatte ich mir das nicht vorgestellt.

Overexposed. Not a heroic feat, photographically speaking. Underexposed isn't nice either. Underexposure is also used to describe people who talk nonsense. I haven't encountered many overexposed people, i.e., completely crazy, with that little bit too much, real freaks, until recently. With deviation from the norm, you can now even hold political office. Progress. That's not how I imagined it.

Breakfast is important, followed shortly by lunch break. A clear structure is essential. Otherwise, the universe will block access. Da wird auch Unreifes gepflückt und verkauft. Und Faules wird als etwas Besonderes präsentiert. Das gibt es bei uns nicht! Und wir haben das schönere Fallobst! Besinnung auf Stärken.

Leave it to hang until it is ripe. Fruit, ideas, young executives. It doesn't matter, it's tradition in Germany, Austria, large parts of Europe, and the world. Only in the USA is it different. There, even unripe fruit is picked and sold. And rotten is presented as something special. We don't have that here! And we have the nicer windfall fruit! Reflection on strengths.

Ganz ernst, in meinem Kopf knallen die Gedanken. Immer, jeden Tag. Es kostet Kraft die nützlichen von den unnützen zu trennen. Weil ich schon mein ganzes Leben darin Übung habe, klappt das in der Regel gut. Auch in Ausnahmesituationen. In Krisen wächst meine Denkmaschine über sich hinaus. Nur in menschgemachten Ausnahmezuständen, wie zum Beispiel Weihnachten, steuert mein Gehirn Überlastungsmodus zu. Überhitzt. No chance. Ich bin nicht der Grinch, ich habe nur wegen Überfüllung geschlossen.

Seriously, thoughts are racing through my head. All the time, every day. It takes effort to separate the useful ones from the useless ones. Because I've had practice at this my whole life, it usually works well. Even in exceptional situations. In crises, my thinking machine grows beyond itself. Only in man-made states of emergency, such as Christmas, does my brain go into overload mode. Overheated. No chance. I'm not the Grinch, I'm just closed due to overcrowding.

Der Herbst geht in den Winter über. Eingangsszenario zum Winter ist die Weihnachtszeit. Zeit der Ruhe, Zeit um sich zurückzuziehen, Muse und Liebe zu genießen, heißen Kakao zu trinken und Wunschzettel zu schreiben. Ich wünsche mir 7-Meilenstiefel mit Stahlkappen und hypergalaktische Energiedrinks. Ersteres um rechtsdrehende Trotteln schnell zu erreichen, um ihnen ins Gesäß zu treten. Den Energiedrink brauche ich, weil es so viele Trottel gibt. Hey Santa, Wünsche vernommen?

Ich bin so verdammt politisch. In mir drin. Ich träume sogar politisch. Und surrealistisch. Sogar voll real-abstrakt. Letzte Nacht, versuchte ich ein SWAT Team, Stadt egal, weil im Traum sind Namen Schall und Rauch, von etwas zu überzeugen. Was das war, mir im Traum noch nicht klar. Aber dann! Aufwachen, Frühstück, Nachrichten der Weltpolitik. Da war es! Trump mit seiner neuen Sicherheitsstrategie! Europa, mehr als eine Handvoll Staaten, träumt davon, dass SWAT wieder für Recht und Ordnung sorgt. Ich habe das letzte Nacht schon mal im Traum-Test vorbereitet.

I am so damn political. Inside me. I even dream politically. And surrealistically. Even completely real-abstract. Last night, I tried to convince a SWAT team, city doesn't matter, because in dreams names are smoke and mirrors, of something. What that was, I didn't realize in my dream. But then! Wake up, breakfast, world politics news. There it was! Trump with his new security strategy! Europe, more than a handful of states, dreams of SWAT restoring law and order. I had already prepared for this last night in my dream test.
