๐Ÿค” one of our 3 conifers, the one closest to the house, appears to have a lot of dieback, a bit more than I'm comfortable with, rught up to the top too. Seems to be closer to the trunk, nit on the tip of the branches. But I don't know conifers. Any experts out there? It's been a dry year for sure, and hot too... #conifers #plants #inthegarden

Sorting out the garden y'day before the freeze: I moved the Indigofera and removed the old (ugly) Rhus that had become really sparse. Interestingly I had trouble finding pics of it before, so I guess it won't be missed much ๐Ÿ™ƒ All the height is gone, but I'm going to train a successor (no shortage of candidates as you can imagine). It's freeeeezing today - finally #inthegarden #lateautumn

Picture of the front garden from the door: steps on the right (whise stones I straightened up a bit) a Hybiscus, which I'm gradually getting rid of, assorted shrubs and the trunk of the Rhus on thevgroundPic of the top of the Rhus when we first came. It was already a sparse canopy but the blackbirds adored it

The heart of the garden: Vibrant pink perfection grounded in green.

A photograph by Kev Peirce, taken from directly above, showcasing a single, fully bloomed rose with deeply saturated, bright magenta-pink petals.

The rose is the central focus, surrounded by lush, dark green grass and foliage. A small portion of a rose cane is visible to the right. The contrast between the vivid flower and the green background is strong.

Good morning, goedemorgen, guten Morgen, buongiorno, bonjour, buenos dias. Some rather large mixed race ducks have landed in the ditch by the garden. #midautumn #biodiversity #inthegarden

Kangaroo paws (Anigozanthos hybrid) and Grevillea plurijuga currently flying the flag for WA flora in the Corunna, NSW garden.

Grafted G. plurijugas are now more widely available in SE NSW nurseries (as G 'Purple Haze') and do pretty well in local conditions.

Just discovered these Saxifraga stolonifera in the nursery today (woodland perennials are definitely not my thang!) ... love the two longer petals on each flower.

Might have to take a slight detour from the Australian natives if I ever actually finish the Grevillea collection and set up a woodland glade somewhere down near the creek ;)

If any of these new plantings disappear over night I'm pretty sure I've already identified the prime suspect ... ;)

Phebalium stenophyllum 'Golden Glow' flowering well in dappled light near Corunna, NSW (client's garden).

Wasn't that long ago that it was rare to see any Phebaliums in general nurseries or local gardens but over the last few years attractive select forms of P. squamulosum, P. nottii, P. stenophyllum and P. whitei (as grafted plants) have become more available.

Still relatively obscure compared to other popular Aussie Rutaceae (Correa, Crowea, Philotheca etc) but a really good option if you're after a compact yellow-flowering shrub that will handle a bit of dappled light in the native garden.

I noticed a well-camouflaged toad while I was watering the garden last night, so I gave it a bit of a shower.

First garden casualty of the recent wild winds at Corunna, NSW - finally lost the 20+ year old grafted Grevillea flexuosa (Zig Zag Grevillea) in the bottom veggie patch.

This was orginally planted as a test of how well the Grevillea robusta rootstock would handle really wet, boggy conditions as parts of the bottom veggie patch remain waterlogged for much of the year in non-drought times.

In recent years it has started to struggle a little with some branches dying off - plus some regular heavy pruning by the cows! Recent gusty westerly winds snapped a main branch which then dragged the whole plant over. RIP.

Last year I planted a new one up in the main garden as a backup - so hopefully I can get another 20 years out of it as well!

This rare/endangered WA grevillea is sometimes available in the east grafted on G. robusta rootstock but there are some doubts about the long term compatibility of this combo and it is not often seen in general nurseries these days. Hopefully a grower will start doing larger numbers of plants with intergrafts - or on a different rootstock - as they make spectacular garden plants.

'Pink Champagne' is the first Epimedium out in full bloom in the Tilba Tilba garden this year - with the delicate buds opening in late-winter. Epimediums are one of the perennials that get the most likes and comments when featured on the nursery's social media - possibly because they are not that well know in this neck of the woods.

Spotted pardalote are tiny and fast which makes photographing them a little tricky. Was nice to see them visit this morning.
