One of the big takeaways from the German election is just how much more engaged German voters are than Irish voters.
Yesterday, Germany reached a turnout of 83.5% of registered voters. In our General Election last November, we had just 59.7% of registered voters come out to vote.

Are the European Elections votes and transfers for Midland-Northwest counted manually?
For some reason, my partner thinks that since there are too many ballots and they are so long, the vote transfers are executed statistically (like on the basis of the preferences of 1,000 randomly chosen ballots). Is that a thing?
I took a break from the count centre yesterday to head out and start taking down posters - I got about half of the 60 down yesterday and plan to take down the other half today!
