I'm using libXft now to render text in the Mastodon client on #IRIX to better handle posts in languages with umlauts etc.

I regret to inform all of you I am back on my bullshit.

I've had a great #irix skin on my uni laptop's #KDE Plasma for some four years. Wasn't the "real deal" but darn close and had the same slightly serious but still whimsical vibes to it. :)
Ha! My #IRIX system is back up and running! I was able to work out using "versions | grep kernel" that there was a patch "patchSG0007060" installed which is a kernel rollup patch.
I was then able to use "versions remove patchSG0007060" to uninstall it, and finally by calling /etc/autoconfig I rebuilt the kernel.
I do love #UNIX systems, you can almost always just fix it.
Oh no... Maybe I should have heeded the warning that for out of support systems the new kernel might cause problems.
#IRIX is just addicted to requickstarting ELF files... But now from within IRIS
Uh oh... This does not bode well...
I do legitimately think that this is just peak computer UX. It is information dense, but still kind of playful.
I'm sure real #ux experts would have a different opinion, but I really enjoy this aesthetic and functionality.
The majesty of 4dwm.
Now we're getting to the good part of #irix
After the just unacceptably and inexplicably bad install process.
Oh #irix, I didn't miss this.
Progress!
Heck yeah!
So close...
