This is a biggie. She's probably about 1.5cm long, bright orange armor that is showing the dotted raised texture that isopods get when they're really big. Millipede back there too. There are easily 200 isopods in this photo, ranging from centimeters to nanometers.

Detail of the bark of a very large pine tree. The pine bark does not have a smooth surface, but consists of layered and overlapping scales which are mainly arranged vertically.
These organically rounded scales are brown in various light and dark colours. Some also have a mossy, greenish colour, which indicates exposure to the elements.
In the middle of the left edge of the picture you can see a small grey isopod, a woodlouse, which is a good size comparison to the scales.

Baby millipede spotted in the terrarium! Cute little all translucent white the size of a long rice grain, zipping along the front by the glass.

(Yes, this is my cute. Cats and arthropods.)

That's really fucking cool. I saved these two millipedes from the raccoon-destroyed riparium, literally the only living thing that survived. I put them both in the indoor isopod home, and they've clearly been thriving.

Seeing that little offspring that I helped create makes me feel better about losing our six white-tipped goldfish, at the very least.
