In the book, written in 1935, ‘United States is torn apart by a flamboyant blowhard politician who uses fearmongering and empty promises to the working class to win election before consolidating his power, shattering the traditions of governance, breaking any laws that constrain him, and stoking paranoia and division.’.

Originally conceived along the lines of #ItCantHappenHere, the network forced him to add Aliens, believing that Americans wouldn’t “get” a story about fascism. Fired after the first mini series, he is now trying to bring it back as a film.
