A weird thing is that many seem to read #Benjamin s theory of the baroque and if allegory as a sort of theory about the postmodern avant la lettre (even #Jameson at times waves in that direction), when he himself understood it profoundly as a theory of modernity.

Question is: did postmodernists in the wake of De Man use Benjamin for their diagnosis of modernity at large or did they (mis)read him in that historically more specific way?

It is quite mellow at first. I don't know if it's because I decided to put ice in the glass with the whiskey or not. It probably is, but I have slowly found that I like the whiskey better that way.
