Edge bathroom collection by Jean-Marie Massaud for Axor

Dezeen Showroom: French designer Jean-Marie Massaud has worked with Axor to create Edge, which the German brand considers "quite possibly the most avant-garde bathroom collection ever".

The Edge collection is made using diamond-tipped tools from the space industry to give a level of precision that Axor says is unprecedented in bathroom design.

The range includes several types of mixers for the tub or basin, as well as shower modules that offer up to five spray modes and precise control of water temperature and flow.

Designed to resemble sculptures of stacked rectangular prisms, the pieces are distinguished by their mirror-like surfaces, perfectly chamfered edges and fine decorative patterns.

It is made to look like a sculpture of rectangular prisms at the end of the tub or basin

"More than a mixer, each product in the collection is a jewel, a sculpture – a real, functioning piece of art that shares your intimacy for life," said Massaud. "That's my understanding of luxury."

The Edge collection is available in a choice of polished Axor FinishPlus finishes: red gold, bronze gold optic, black chrome or chrome.

Lloyd Tex bookcase by Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau

Dezeen Showroom: taking inspiration from hi-fi speakers, French designer Jean-Marie Massaud has created the Lloyd Tex shelving with sliding fabric panels for Poltrona Frau.

The Lloyd Tex self-supporting bookcase features panels of semi-transparent technical fabric that slide on horizontal tracks, partially obscuring the shelves' contents and creating changeable geometric patterns.

The Lloyd Tex bookcase was designed by Jean-Marie Massaud

"In Lloyd Tex, the most advanced technology comes together with traditional materials such as wood in a delicate balance between different spirits of material," said Poltrona Frau.

"And the interplay of solids and voids becomes even more evident, allowing a glimpse of the content of the freestanding bookcase, without completely revealing it."

The fabric comes in light and dark shades

The Lloyd Tex shelving comes in a range of widths and heights, including a double-sided bookcase version that can double as a space divider.

Its technical fabric is available in light and dark colours, and its slim but sturdy shelves are made of high-pressure laminate with oak veneer and a matt lead finish.

Aston Club seating by Jean-Marie Massaud for Arper

Dezeen Showroom: French designer Jean-Marie Massaud has expanded on his Aston chair design for Arper, with new club chair variations designed to enclose the sitter in luxurious comfort.

The Aston Club chair and Aston Club Low Back chair are based on the shape of the 2006 original but with features more suited to the lounge than the boardroom.

The Aston Club chair offers luxurious comfort with the serenity of a wraparound headrest

Described by Arper as offering "a timeless form designed for superlative comfort", the Aston Club chair has a deep inclined seat and a wraparound headrest to offer privacy and respite from the world, along with an optional footrest.

The newest variation, the Aston Club Low Back, offers a similar feeling of generous comfort but in a more minimal form.

The Aston Club Low Back combines comfort with a more minimal form

With no headrest, the Aston Club Low Back works well on its own or grouped in multiples for both conversation or relaxation.

Both Aston Club chairs come in a wide range of upholstery options, with four-star bases in either polished or painted aluminium, finished in no-VOC paint.

Their internal parts are made from post-industrial recycled plastic, and the chairs are made with no glue to allow for easy disassembly and recycling or upcycling.
