I live in #Jersey where we have a much higher than average number of people in that 5-30m bracket. I run into a fair few of them professionally.

I can assure you that this level of wealth seriously dominates their life and skews all interactions they have. They can never be a nornal person in a pub. Their kids will always show their privilege. They ALWAYS have privileged (ie deeply capitalist) politics. And they are really often lonely and sad.

So that's very much my natural style! I ignore a lot of the advice on packaging (spacing and when to grow in particular) - and only start really thinking about it when I'm failing to germinate something tricky (like Lisianthus which causes me pain!). I'm in #Jersey so can grow a lot of things year round which is great. Semi hardy = hardy for us

But in general I plant too much, love every minute of it, and just try to do everything I can to improve our sandy soils.

Yes - I think airflow is my No1 consideration when they get going. We have so much blight here in #Jersey - it's an absolute nightmare tbh... But great tomatoes can't be beaten so I keep trying and some years - like last - are great.

But I need to get that spacing formula right - given feed etc.

@yvan @transitionalaspect @OriginalLucy definitely don’t need a polytunnel in #Jersey. Wind protection is key for us though. My seedlings came thru last week so I’ll be transplanting to pots in 10 days or so. And then feeding them under the grow light until early April maybe when I’ll plant out. They’ll then sulk for a while and hopefully I’ll get fruit in June. And hopefully no blight till August or later.

Tomatoes can be such a trauma!
