How many hyped #IDEs must a programmer walk down before they stick with #Emacs (or even #vim)?

Instead, they will migrate to the next hype tool for the upcoming few months/years ...

I can't believe how good the Azure DevOps Plugin for IntelliJ by @jgafner is.

It's got all the features you can think of so you never have to use the Azure DevOps web UI again. Especially being able stay in the IDE for PR code reviews is very helpful.

Anyone who has to work with Azure DevOps and uses a JetBrains IDE should check it out.

Is there something like Code Map in Rider (i.e. to keep track of the methods called when stepping through code in debug mode)?

It took a lot of tinkering, but finally, I did it. I have my favorite font in PyCharm's and WebStorm's terminal.

Here is how you can do it too:

JetBrains IDE's have been my goto editors for several years. And with Junie in the mix, it was time to share some thoughts on it, having used it since it got released.

Really think Junie deserves more attention than it's getting.

In their 2025.3 release, JetBrains via their DataGrip product, and then filtered down to the rest of their products, migrated away from the term “Query Console” to the aptly-named “Query Files”. I always use this feature as a throwaway query tool, and if I wanted to save files, I would save them as part of the project elsewhere rather than in the .idea directory.

This provided a good opportunity to try to solidify that practice in my mind by changing the key mapping so that I can build “muscle memory” using the scratch file functionality instead. This exists for database queries.

To remind myself not to do this, I changed the key mapping Ctrl+Shift+Q to “Scratch File” rather than “Query File” under Settings > Keymap > Database > Database Explorer > New.
