Endlich geschafft .. alle GoogleFotos zu➡️ @jottacloud.bsky.social verschoben .. hätte nicht gedacht das es so zeitaufwendig ist. Fotos der letzten 9 Jahre .. jetzt in der #jottaCloud .. jetzt noch Google Drive in die #jottaCloud 1TB
Was Zeitkapsl für mich schon mal besser als Jottacloud macht: Es werden auch die Alben der Apple Fotos synchronisiert.

Will I ever learn?
Installed and set up #Nextcloud for the third time in three weeks, and deleted it again in a rage for the third time.
Contacts are not a problem with Nextcloud.
The notes app for iOS has no function.
Importing my calendar file almost gave me a heart attack.
I don‘t trust Nextcloud for my documents, as so much doesn’t work: they are in my #Jottacloud.
And for notes I am still at #Evernote.

Jetzt habe ich mal Jottacloud 100 GB Speicherplatz abonniert - über den Apple App Store um lediglich 99 Cent monatlich. Das sollte ausreichen, um einen genaueren Blick darauf zu werfen, ob es als Cloud-Speicher für meine Fotos in Frage kommt. Klappt das nicht, dann kündige ich wieder und probiere es mit Zeitkapsl.

We read the transparency report of Jottacloud 🇳🇴 (@jottacloud), a Norwegian cloud provider, where they explain how they handle government requests for users’ data. If you don’t know what a “Warrant Canary” is, keep reading!
In Norway, the gov can issue warrants for the search and seizure of customers data and it can also stop the company from telling its users about this. (secret warrants)
So, what does Jottacloud do in these cases?
1- They need a special court order (warrant) before they can hand over user data to the gov.
2- If they do get one, they’ll let the user know, unless they’re not allowed to.
3- If the gov asks them to keep it secret (“gag order”), Jottacloud uses something called a Warrant Canary.
What is a Warrant Canary?
It’s a way for a service provider to tell its users that it’s been served with a government subpoena, even though they’re not allowed to reveal it.
It’s like a warning sign. Jottacloud puts out a statement every week that’s timestamped and signed with their private key to verify its authenticity, meaning that “everything’s fine”. If they stop updating that statement, it might mean they’ve received a gag order and can’t tell the user about it.
They want to be open with users, but also follow the law.

I've uploaded all my exported Apple Notes, sorted into different folders, to Jottacloud and Evernote.
In Jottacloud, they're all in their folders, with the original date, as it should be.
But it is an archive, not a notes app.
In Evernote, they're all unsorted and show the current date - what a mess.
I'll have to reconsider my return to Evernote, but other than Apple Notes, I don't like any of the alternatives (I don't like Notion, Joplin etc and hate Nextcloud)
For everyone interested: #jottacloud's CLI tool runs just fine on #synology DSM.
You got to choose your fighter from https://repo.jotta.cloud/archives/linux/ , unpack everything and run the install.sh file to install the jottad-daemon.
You might need to adjust the user in the service file but then you are basically good to go.

Aggiornamento sul mio processo di boicottaggio dei prodotti non europei. Ksuite purtroppo si è rivelata non adatta alle mie esigenze: la gestione della suite mi risulta un po’ cervellotica, ed il tutto è o in francese o in un inglese/italiano tradotto un po’ così così. Peccato perché le soluzioni gratuite erano generose in termini di Gb. Torno verso #tutamail e #jottacloud, magari con una soluzione pro. Vostre esperienze e consigli? (Con Proton non mi sono trovato benissimo)
