@slashdot

Between Slashdot and the cited Wired article, the only source provided is a Microsoft employee who *certainly* had no reason to be less than honest.

Giving them far more credit than they deserve, I want to see the published findings and methods

Using my brain along with the available evidence, I think I’ll just disregard this nonsense on its face

Hey The News? Your headlines about the ego parade are appalling. Know what really brought "1000s" out to DC? #NoKings Millions if you count every state. Stop glorifying Trump's ego fest. He called the military "suckers/losers," he uses them as props, he exploits them. #JournalisticMalpractice

‪The New York Times:‬

#Trump's new official portrait shows him with a neutral expression moderated by a slight warmth in the eyes — a classic pose some call "smizing," our critic at large writes.

the full line is "When you upload or input information through Firefox, you hereby grant us a nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use that information to help you navigate, experience, and interact with online content as you indicate with your use of Firefox." (emphasis mine)

That's legalese for "when you use firefox to put data on the internet, you can't sue us for putting that data on the internet bc telling our browser to send your data somewhere is the same as giving us permission to do that"

This is a completely reasonable thing for them to state; to cut the quote off as in the OP is at best misleading and at worst malicious and inflammatory.

The NYT fact-checked Trump’s news conference.
Stop with the stand alone and separate stories.
Report Tя☭mp lies and half-truths in every story.

I hope @mediabiasfactcheck or others put some actual effort into studying the insane media bias that stained the entire 2024 election cycle, from reminding us every 5 minutes that Biden is old and questioning his mental fitness constantly, to writing excuses for Stupid and suddenly ceasing to find any interest in age and mental fitness once Harris took the torch, to the relentless sanewashing of Stupid while holding Harris to a far higher standard, even back to the months and year prior to the election, when they were constantly banging the drum of a recession that never happened and giving people the impression that the economy was terrible, despite all evidence to the contrary.

The media not only failed to educate people about what was really going on, they actively participated in promulgating the distortion perceived by the public.

There are so many words to describe Trump's plans:

Horrific

Authoritarian

Potentially illegal

Fascist

Unamerican

Destructive

Racist

Corrupt

Yet, just like always, modern journalists do their part to sanewash, carefully picking their words to be technically correct without representing the situation in a truly truthful manner.

"Ambitious" my ass. Do your god damn jobs.

An article posted to Facebook by AP news. The text reads: "Donald Trump has ambitious day one plans for when he moves back into the White House. His list includes starting mass deportations, pardoning those arrested for the Capitol Riot and making the federal criminal charges against him go away."

The picture shows Donald Trump walking alongside the unfinished border wall with an unknown man.

In Trump-land …
- Rally speaker called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage”
- Elon Musk promised “tank the economy” means “hardship” for the middle class
- Mike Johnson promised to kill Obamacare if Trump wins
- Musk PAC carted door knockers around in the back of a UHaul

Yet in WaPo, NYT, political journalism-land … the focus is on a gaffe

Why is Biden’s one-time GAFFE a “firestorm,” Axios, but Trump’s repeated epithets(“poisoning blood”) and flat out lies (“eating dogs and cats”) is ho-f….ing-hum?

This is how USA today reported on the Dear Leader's racist rally at Madison Square Garden. It speaks for itself.

A large photo shows the Dear Leader speaking at the podium, with palms uplifted as if making a point. The lede calls the setting for his speech a 'celebrity-infused rally.'

Eugene Robinson details “The double standard for Harris and Trump” in this column. He laments vapid news coverage.

“Somehow, it is apparently baked into this campaign that Trump is allowed to talk and act like a complete lunatic while Harris has to be perfect in every way.”

wapo.st/4dZaokD

Let’s review: First, Harris was criticized for not doing enough interviews — so she did multiple interviews, including with nontraditional media. She was criticized for not doing hostile interviews — so she went toe to toe with Bret Baier of Fox News. She was criticized as being comfortable only at scripted rallies — so she did unscripted events, such as the town hall on Wednesday. Along the way, she wiped the floor with Trump during their one televised debate.
Trump, meanwhile, stands before his MAGA crowds and spews nonstop lies, ominous threats, impossible promises and utter gibberish. His rhetoric is dismissed, or looked past, without first being interrogated.

This piece in Wapo about Trump's insane speech does a good job of portraying how confused and nonsensical and deranged it was.
archive.is/20241002153832/http

Then you read the Times article on the same speech, and sure, they describe it as disjointed, but they very determinedly try to make sense of it and turn it into actual coherent points, because they just refuse to say "Trump made no sense for over an hour." #JournalisticMalpractice
