term like "Aryan", derived from a
group of languages but ascribed to a
race in a way that makes no sense
outside of counterfactual racist
theories. The term "anti-Semitic" was
originally a term that anti-Semites
used for themselves, reflecting their
TOTALLY FALSE assertion that
European Jews were not European
but of Middle Eastern (Palestinian)
origin. This claim that European
Jews were not Europeans was
adopted by Zionism (along with most
other anti-Semitic tropes, which is
why before the Nazi Holocaust most
European Jews despised Zionism).
Anti-Semitism remains a commonly
understood term for anti-Jewish
racism but in many ways it's a
