On the day the LAPD takes an interest on going undercover on public transport, a couple of baddies enter the bus with a bomb strapped to their chest asking for a 100 million. What are the odds? I did miss a lot, way back when #TheXFiles was in its original run. I'm generally disappointed by the lack of vision and imagination by this last season (9, aired 2001-2). But now I'm horrified.
I'm horrified that the Lone Gunmen were killed off. Absolutely mortified. It feels contemptuous, of both the audience and the creators' own work. I loved the comedic and meta entries to earlier seasons. I love that Frohike, Byers and Langley are just regular joes. The X-Files always, always soars when the dignity and humanity of everyday schmoes is placed at the heart of the story. Certainly, when characters are allowed to grow and find resolution. 'Jump The Shark' could have maintained its humour without denigrating three awesome supporting characters in the process.
Nick Milo’s Ideaverse and TfTHacker’s Canvas Candy are a problem. They move too far from the text first focus of Obsidian. I admire these producers for other things, but these are not a direction I can support. I see them like all the pretty Instagram Bullet Journals, far from Rider’s origination but more directly income-generating.
