To give an idea of its history, it doesn't appear as a named road on maps until the 1930s, and prior to that, it seems to have only been a pathway leading through the park, created for the 1888 Glasgow International Exhibition, and later expanded for the 1901 exhibition.

It was another wonderfully sunny morning on Kelvin Way in Glasgow. For me, closing this road to traffic (which happened in 2020) has been a major success. It doesn't cause me much inconvenience when I drive around the West End of the city, and it's created a rather brilliant, and well-used, public space which re-unites the two sides of Kelvingrove Park.

Glasgow's parks can be a bit of a mess after a sunny day, so it was nice to see the city's refuse collectors out first thing this morning in Kelvingrove Park tidying everything up. Just this one bin took about 20 minutes for them to clean up, and not a scrap of litter or food debris left behind. They really don't get the appreciation they deserve for tidying up after the rest of us!
