The Forgotten Ten (An Deichniúr Dearmadta) were ten members of the Irish Republican Army who were executed in Mountjoy Prison, Dublin by British forces following courts martial from 1920 to 1921 during the Irish War of Independence. The ten included Kevin Barry.

I finished #KevinBarry's 'Bohane: a novel'. It is lyrical, gripping with a lovely humour. There are moments where it reads like a pastiche of #Joyce, probably deliberately. I don't get the point of it though. Bohane is a nasty place with horrible weather and worse people. The violence, though not pornographic, doesn't have the visceral terror of #Bolaño's (whose does?). Perhaps it is a mediation on time, change, loss and eternity. Certainly readable.
