I just got the scans from the very first roll of film (#KodakGold200), shot with the #Yashica #FX3Super2000 and the restored #ML50mm, and yes, the lens seems to be back in perfectly working condition! 🤩

The image depicts a dimly lit underground setting, suggesting an overpass. A stark contrast of shadows and faint light creates reflections on the surface of still water below. There are hints of colorful graffiti visible on the wall in the distance, adding a touch of urban art to the scene. This photograph captures a close-up of a bicycle's handlebars partially obscured by tall, dry grass. The handlebars are elegantly curved, showcasing a rugged black tape. The background is softly blurred, highlighting the natural surroundings and suggesting a tranquil outdoor environment. The image features tall, golden grass swaying gently in a field, illuminated by warm sunlight. The grass blades are delicate and dance lightly in the breeze, creating a serene and natural atmosphere. This image captures vibrant oak leaves in a mix of green and hints of autumnal orange. The leaves are bathed in soft light, showcasing their texture and depth.

I had a nice discussion last week (?) with some film folks about how we're looking for a more positive spirit event like #FolderWeek to get us to shoot and share more work with vintage film cameras and we settled on TLRs (Twin Lens Reflex) cameras. So here's the inaugural #TLRTuesday post (hashtag is still under work-shopping)?

Also an homage to #TrainTuesday, I sadly don't have enough regular train access to keep going, but maybe someday.

A sunny color photo of two old-timey street cars facing each other seperated by an intersection surrounded by palm tree lined brick laid streets. The closer tram to the left is partially visible is a very vivid yellow top and ornage bottom and the farther tram is a white top with a blue bottom, both looking very vintage and dapper. Last year, I was trying to take this #FensterFreitag photo but could not find a good framing of just the windows until I realized that it was only interesting to me in context of all the white and blue in the entire frame. It was nice to just relax and notice other interesting things which is when I got lucky with the biker and the bird filling in the frame.

A color photograph of a bright sunny day with a cloudless blue sky framing the top of a small eatery with a round sign that says "Pier 23". The eatery has white walls with blue windows and some red outdoor dining chairs in front next to big potted green shrubs with purple flowers. The sidewalk stretches into the distance and has a smattering of walkers and a person in a gray hoodie on a bike in the mid ground right below a white seagull. Whole image is just variations of white and blue with some accents of other colors. Love sunsets.

Always something about them, you’ll never see the same one twice.

I was really struggling anyway to take a shot of Alcatraz from that far away with effectively a 35mm focal length. The island looked tiny in a big frame with nothing interesting around it. But as I was taking the steps down towards the bay, I caught this frame and I'm glad I decided to take the shot on a whim. While taking this shot is when I realized that I probably goofed the last one, but I didn't want to climb back up the hill to see if the red bus was still there.

A color photograph of a many gnarly tree trunks and branches mostly in silhouette with some areas of the tree bark being lit by the sunlight in patches. There is one larger opening in the middle of all the chaos that opens up to the background where Alcatraz island can be seen in the Bay waters and the hillside and a few clouds behind it on the other side. I wish I could claim I intended to do a double exposure. In fact I suspected I had accidentally double exposed a few minutes later when taking the next shot once I had left the area. I'm glad this has turned into a happy accident with the Coit Tower in the background and Alcatraz above the grill.

A double exposure color photo of a red Volkswagon Bus that is prominently taking up most of the frame under some blue skies with fluffy clouds with the Coit Tower in the background. Overlayed on it is another exposure of Alcatraz island in the distance, which is sitting right between the windshield and grill of the bus. The Alcatraz exposure has a some trees on the right that are faded in the sky and some purple flowers in the foreground which now looks painted onto the bus. Little by little, I’m saying goodbye to the autumn colors. Analog photos to bring a bit of poetry into this rushed life 🍂
