Some weirs on the Lagan empty the canal into the river, mostly near where the canal has been blocked up. The lock pictured is at the Barbour mill in Hilden. This is the first time I've ever seen anything more than standing or trickling water here. Upstream a few hundred metres is the weir that allows flow from the canal to spill into the river. Recently it's been rebuilt to fully block any crossflow, causing the water levels in the canal to rise significantly. #Lagan #Canal
