Eines der gesichteten Bilder will ich nochmal von der RAW-Datei entwickeln, weil das zugehörig von der Kamera abgelegte JPG von der Belichtung her nicht passt … Toll, was auf Basis der Sensordaten bei den Tonwerten da noch alles geht.

Aber die Linien sind noch krumm. Das von Digikam (und den Alternativen) verwendete LensFun kennt Kamera+Objektiv, also Verzeichnungskorrektur angewandt. Hm, die Linien sind jetzt anders krumm. Produktvariante des Objektivs eingestellt. Weniger krumm, aber immer noch nicht so schön geradegezogen wie im leider viel zu dunklen JPG, das die Kamera aus den gleichen Sensordaten erstellt hat.

Nerv. An was muss ich jetzt da wieder rumbasteln, dass das vielleicht doch noch verwendbar wird …

Dafür würde ich #mozjpeg (älter) oder #jpegli (aus dem #jpegxl Projekt von Google) nehmen.

Muss also irgendwie daran kommen, und dann noch die Krümmung der Linse anpassen. #lensfun soll da was können?

Die Krümmung ist ja auch je nach Zoom stärker oder schwächer.

Seeking advice, boosts appreciated 🙏

Any lensfun contributors out there? I have a few m42s to add to the database and am curious as to what subject/lighting worked best for your lens/setup? (I have read their doc).

I'm aware that the smaller apsc sensor in my camera won't capture the whole image, so the corrections are somewhat limited. My expectation is using a focal reducer isn't useful as it adds its own imperfections to the mix. Likewise teleconverters.

* fixed and updated #fedora #lensfun packages, after @cukie pointed out they were broken - bodhi.fedoraproject.org/update etc.
* got an update with dep issues untagged from #rawhide , re-ran a bunch of failed #openqa tests - pagure.io/releng/issue/12184
* slugged away for a bit at trying to get #blender to build with Python 3.13, dealing with lots of internal cpython API usage - projects.blender.org/blender/b
* reviewed a draft magazine article about the openQA cloudification project

Updating the database should be as easy as running the #lensfun database on my machine. lensfun has an easy commandline tool called lensfun-update-database that does exactly what is written on the tin.

I run #fedora so accessing this tool is a quick sudo dnf install lensfun-tools away. But uh-oh! The tool had a bug a while back and hasn't been repackaged by the fedora maintainers yet. bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.c

Today's mini #darktable adventure: updating the #lensfun database to take advantage of my new lens! Last week I got a TTArtisan 25mm f/2 for my xt5. This is a nifty little manual focus lens.

Taking advantage of lens corrections in darktable for this lens is a huge benefit over commercial software! The lensfun database includes it, but a quick glance over at Adobe's supported lenses show that there's no support at all in their products.

A photo with a circle in the middle where there's a distorted landscape, which follows the circular format. There's a house in the center of the image, some trees and clouds. Monochromatic and cold colors used.

I've extended the lens calibrate script to create plots for vignetting calculations so you can check if they are fine. At the end there will be a vignetting.pdf with everything you need for validation. gitlab.com/cryptomilk/lens_cal
