Portrait of a tiny innocent void suffering the Great Injustice of not being let out when there are _imposters_ on her territory. 'Veterinary bills are expensive even with insurance' and 'no car to use in emergencies' are definitely just excuses - that last time wasn't as serious as matte says it was!

Alea the Black Cat moping on the foot end of my bed, looking line a morose black fur bean.

I thought life in the country would be more harvesting vegetables and less shovelling snow in longjohns* and slippers, yet here we are...

(*longjanes I guess - so far I haven't robbed some poor man of his underwear)

Guess who has no thumbs yet managed to leave a small liver in the foyer for me to step in with my bare foot.

my mom *scrolling FB*

her *turns to my dad informatively*: Possums eat all the snakes they can find, including copperheads. So I'll continue to feed the possum.

I feel like this feeding of Possum has been a previous topic of conversation in their household. 😆

Apparently a new cat has moved to the neighbourhood and is aggressively demands part of Alea the Black Cat's terrirtory. So far Alea has won her fights, but the price has been several tufts of fur, a new collar with name capsule, one vet bill, and ten days of convalescence indoors. For some reason that new collar irks me the most.

Shovelling snow in rain - not my favourite activity.

06:18 in the morning and the motion sensor lantern on my garden shed triggered. I _need_ to put a trail cam there! Probably the fox, it trots along my driveway ever so often.

You know your driveway is icy when you can see from the tracks that the cat and the fox both have slipped, several times. And no, one wasn't chasing the other; they were just peacefully passing by (at separate occasions.)

I've sanded the whole 20m of it. I've earned my hot chocolate and pickled herring sandwich.

Oh deer! There are two fawns in my garden digging for fallen apples under the snow.

Hm. 52*16=832kg. I've just carried close to a ton pellets*. It'll keep us warm for ~a month. If my forecast is right I'll need about 312 bags for the entire cold season, meaning I'll have carried almost five ton next spring. I think I'll ramp up my tries to get a proper heat pump to this house.

(*ie. one pallet of pellets bags)

You know you live in the country when you find a dead vole in the watering can, and the collected birds of the forest hold regular conferences on twig quality* on your porch.

(*Judging from the residue that's what it is.)

Today is a 'Forget breakfast and sweep snow, unless you want Mother Nature to turn your driveway into an ice slide' day. Not my favourite, but I got you some fox tracks out of it. Enjoy!

My boot and a set of vanishing canine tracks. The tracks matches the size of a German Shepherd - or a fox. My bot is European size 40 I think.

New birb sound just dropped! An eery "Hehe, hooho! Hehe, hooho!" from a pair of swans.

Looking out my backdoor right now I can see two Superb Fairywrens, a Grey Fantail and two of these Eastern Yellow Robins.
