Turning the Other Cheek
Neither revenging the hitter nor turning the other cheek addresses the cause.

Of course, it was actually less about vibing as a phenomenon and more about how it somehow managed to replace (in my head) all my work, toil, and struggle. At the same time, I seem to perceive, hopefully incorrectly, that many only see programming as a necessary evil. Something that just needs to be done to achieve a solution. There is no inherent value in programming itself. But there is, I argue!

Because what I have realized during my now hundreds of hours of programming (regarding the current problem) is that programming is rarely the limiting factor. The really big limitation is understanding the problem, and how to solve it, or all those damn little details that only become clear when you really start tinkering with the problem.

There seems to be a belief that with vibe coding, anything is possible. We no longer need to think or reflect. And it has to go fast. No time to lose. We shouldn't make mistakes, or learn. We should no longer have to feel setbacks, but only achieve constant successes.

Vibing may have its place, and I understand, and have seen, how some achieve success through vibing. The challenge with development and how vibing fits in is, of course, nuanced. But I don't think everything needs to go fast; some things can be frustrating and take time. Even if the shortcut can be appealing and tempting.

Espresso is not just code for me; it is proof that I can solve complex problems, that I can build something valuable from nothing.

Pro tip (at least for me): that extra or older pair of glasses belong in the car. Luckily I was able to fix glasses in order to drive home. If I couldnโ€™t it would have been a very long wait and complicated car shuffle. (Happened a few weeks ago but thought Iโ€™d pass it on) #LifeLesson

Some people don't work, but still want to put their nose in the business of others. It's our job to tell them to mind their own business, encourage them to get a job, and focus on their own business and their own walk with God. (2 Thessalonians 3:11)

3 tips for good work ethics:
1. If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing right.
2. If you don't have time to do it right, you sure don't have time to do it again.
3. The world doesn't owe you a living, you have to get out and make it yourself.

What if I told you this bag was $1,000? Most would say, โ€œNo way.โ€
But what if whatโ€™s inside is worth way more?
Donโ€™t judge the surfaceโ€”ask deeper questions.
Open mind. Different results.
Change your mindset, change your life.

Israel turns deserts into gardens, obstacles into breakthroughs, and innovation into hope. Itโ€™s not just survivalโ€”itโ€™s wisdom, resilience, and heart. This is the Israel Iโ€™m proud to call home.

Tangential: My A-level physics teacher was Wing Commander "Cocky" Traynor (sp?). After one lesson in which he introduced thermocouples I asked him why โ€” given that humans can't tolerate temperatures greater than about 160F โ€” we didn't set tea kettles to switch off at, say, 180F and save a lot of energy.

He glared at me archly and growled, "It wouldn't taste the same."

Iโ€™ve always kept a small screwdriver in my backpack. It often comes in handyโ€”whether itโ€™s to open up a hard drive, replace a remote control battery, or who knows what else. Experience (and a few mistakes) taught me itโ€™s worth investing in a quality tool.

When my father-in-law saw it, he asked if he could borrow it for a few days. I happily agreed, but my wife warned me not to, worried it might get lost.

A few days later, just as she had predicted, my father-in-law asked if I had taken it back, because he couldnโ€™t find it anymore. Gone. Never seen again.

Not long after, I bought a new oneโ€”this time, following my wifeโ€™s advice, I didnโ€™t mention it to my father-in-law.

This morning, while I was out, I noticed the lens on my sunglasses had come loose and was about to fall off. I immediately pulled out my trusty screwdriver, tightened the lens, and made sure everything was secure.

I smiled to myself and quietly thought of my wifeโ€™s wise adviceโ€”and how, without a doubt, I should listen to her more often.

Learned today that you shouldn't worry or think about whether you would be happier doing or being with someone else. Ask yourself, am I happy now? If the answer is yes, keep going. If it's not, change. Don't expect that you will be happier by changing, but you're setting yourself up for more happiness.
