Of course, it was actually less about vibing as a phenomenon and more about how it somehow managed to replace (in my head) all my work, toil, and struggle. At the same time, I seem to perceive, hopefully incorrectly, that many only see programming as a necessary evil. Something that just needs to be done to achieve a solution. There is no inherent value in programming itself. But there is, I argue!
Because what I have realized during my now hundreds of hours of programming (regarding the current problem) is that programming is rarely the limiting factor. The really big limitation is understanding the problem, and how to solve it, or all those damn little details that only become clear when you really start tinkering with the problem.
There seems to be a belief that with vibe coding, anything is possible. We no longer need to think or reflect. And it has to go fast. No time to lose. We shouldn't make mistakes, or learn. We should no longer have to feel setbacks, but only achieve constant successes.
Vibing may have its place, and I understand, and have seen, how some achieve success through vibing. The challenge with development and how vibing fits in is, of course, nuanced. But I don't think everything needs to go fast; some things can be frustrating and take time. Even if the shortcut can be appealing and tempting.
Espresso is not just code for me; it is proof that I can solve complex problems, that I can build something valuable from nothing.

Pro tip (at least for me): that extra or older pair of glasses belong in the car. Luckily I was able to fix glasses in order to drive home. If I couldnโt it would have been a very long wait and complicated car shuffle. (Happened a few weeks ago but thought Iโd pass it on) #LifeLesson

Some people don't work, but still want to put their nose in the business of others. It's our job to tell them to mind their own business, encourage them to get a job, and focus on their own business and their own walk with God. (2 Thessalonians 3:11)

3 tips for good work ethics:
1. If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing right.
2. If you don't have time to do it right, you sure don't have time to do it again.
3. The world doesn't owe you a living, you have to get out and make it yourself.

Tangential: My A-level physics teacher was Wing Commander "Cocky" Traynor (sp?). After one lesson in which he introduced thermocouples I asked him why โ given that humans can't tolerate temperatures greater than about 160F โ we didn't set tea kettles to switch off at, say, 180F and save a lot of energy.
He glared at me archly and growled, "It wouldn't taste the same."

Iโve always kept a small screwdriver in my backpack. It often comes in handyโwhether itโs to open up a hard drive, replace a remote control battery, or who knows what else. Experience (and a few mistakes) taught me itโs worth investing in a quality tool.
When my father-in-law saw it, he asked if he could borrow it for a few days. I happily agreed, but my wife warned me not to, worried it might get lost.
A few days later, just as she had predicted, my father-in-law asked if I had taken it back, because he couldnโt find it anymore. Gone. Never seen again.
Not long after, I bought a new oneโthis time, following my wifeโs advice, I didnโt mention it to my father-in-law.
This morning, while I was out, I noticed the lens on my sunglasses had come loose and was about to fall off. I immediately pulled out my trusty screwdriver, tightened the lens, and made sure everything was secure.
I smiled to myself and quietly thought of my wifeโs wise adviceโand how, without a doubt, I should listen to her more often.

many of you enjoyed "Bertrand Russellโs Chicken". This is the ๐จ๐๐๐ค๐ฃ๐ ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ฉ ๐ค๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐จ๐ฉ๐ค๐ง๐ฎ. Russellโs parable of the chicken and Spencer Johnsonโs Cheese story share a common lessonโlife is unfair to those who donโt notice, deny and resist change. The cheese will move, and the farmerโs habits may change. The key to survival is not clinging to old realities but anticipating shifts and adapting quickly. Donโt take stability for grantedโstay prepared, keep moving, and always look for new opportunities.

Learned today that you shouldn't worry or think about whether you would be happier doing or being with someone else. Ask yourself, am I happy now? If the answer is yes, keep going. If it's not, change. Don't expect that you will be happier by changing, but you're setting yourself up for more happiness.
