I cannot express how physically taxing this is but Im proud of my progress. It's weird how a shape language evolves around the cutting itself. I'm exhausted and calling it a day for today. This is about 2 hours of cutting but it feels like I've run a marathon. I did finer lines to set my line and then redid the cuts deeper to refine my shapes and cut away deeper material so ink doesn't get caught where it shouldnt be. #lino #art #ink #printmaking #linoprinting

Preparation of a cat lino print. So far the design of the cat has been transferred onto the lino on the left and the outline has been gone over with a permanent marker. On the right is the pencil drawing of the cat that was transferred to the left and reversed. There is text "Grimalkin" reversed on the left and the right way round in pencil on a separate piece of paper on the right. There is also the permanent marker, a pair of scissors, and a mechanical pencil all the way to the left of the picture.

Second Linocut try!

This time with some peonies in black and in read! I figured the linoleum I bought first is wayyy too soft for intricate details and become brittle(?) very easily! I am excited to try the harder ones! 🖤
