The kaleidoscopic effect here is done with custom made optical crystal filters. No AI or VFx used. Most of the inks used are made by me and they move according to the manipulation of two glass plates on top of each other.

Getting inspired to do some more squish plates. This is the only technique I do that doesn't really involve macro shots. The plates I use are about 12 inches wide and what you see is a crop around 9 inches in diameter, more or less. I really enjoy doing this in a live gig format. There are many ways of creating movement apart from different ways of actually pressing the plates together. It's almost like puppeteering with water. Liquid puppeteering!

No VFx or AI here. I just adore prisms and diffraction. I remember being fascinated by them ever since I was a child. I have memories of experimenting with them as early as 6 years old! There are so many amazing light artists out there, it's a steep learning curve.

Here is a question for you all: do #peertube videos bigger than 15mb actually show on #pixelfed feeds? there are so many videos that show in my timeline that have that white/blank "no preview available" window. I wonder if the same would happen to PeerTube (or even #mastodon for that matter) videos when seen from within Pixelfed. I really like the community here and would prefer to not have to move elsewhere for videos. Any thoughts?

Liquid magic hidden jewels for your sunday treasure hunts.

Still from the current video I'm working on. I thought I had added way too much soap to the mixture but in the end was able to make something of the outcome. Soap is a surfactant that reduces surface tension and one of the most important elements in any #liquidlight artist's lab. Knowing how much to use it will control the outcome of the desired shapes and sizes of the other chemichals being used. In this case here, mostly round shapes due to the lack of surface tension between the different liquids and water.

The lowfi feel of these shots is due to the holographic paper that I like to experiment with. There are scratches and imperfections that are invisible to the human eye but totally there when you look through a proper lens. It just adds this whole other gritty texture which sometimes feels like a good break from all the other super hi def stuff (which I also enjoy doing).

There's no AI or visual fx used here. This is all handmade using liquids, visual filters and prisms under a macro lends. Real size about 4mm.

This one is from when I was playing with a technique called "squish plate" that involves squishing liquids of different viscosities between 2 plates of glass. It takes a while to get the hang of how different liquids inteact with each other, plus how different layers of colours also interact to give new colours depending on their opaqueness and/or transparancy. So, lots there. I miss using squish plates and was looking at old pictures to get inspired to go back to it again.

Trying to figure out how (if possible at all) to chose a cover for video posts... here and/or in #pixelfed . Any suggestions?

This here is all #handmade #liquidlight by yours truly. It;s just the interaction of liquids with different viscosities interacting.

I originally started playing around with liquid light last year. It is an artform that developed in the 60's and now has a long tradition of extraordinary techniques and many awesome folks who set the ground for so many light shows now popular today. Somehow my own process seems to be evolving to include other forms of experimentation as well, including macroart and the liquid/light interactions. Anyways, always hoping we will have better video sharing capabilities here in order to share more. If anyone knows if there is a way to change video post cover please let me know!

What soundtrack would you add to this? I'm thinking something Bjorky....?
