I went to play some more #LD57 games but oops the results are out already!

I'm quite pleased with mine - highest ever audio rating and placing, and same for humour - though not highest percentile in either case. Better than my last effort in every category except for fun (which admittedly is an important one!)

#ludumdare57 results are out and our diver management game did a lot better than expected. I expected somewhere in the 200-300th place range for most categories (minus graphics), but it turned out a lot better 🥳

Somebody just commented that the story of my #LDJam game felt disjointed, like there was no reason why this guy was going into the woods with a talking skull and talking to random people...

I've been rumbled! It is, in fact, a load of random nonsense that I churned out in a few desperate hours on the third day 🤷

My dialogue graph editor, #Digression, worked pretty well on its recent outing for #LudumDare, but there were still definitely some pain points. One was that manually sizing the nodes was a hassle, and another was that a lot of space was taken up by controls that were rarely, if ever required.

The dialogue says: "The dialogue text edit controls now have line numbers, and grow with the entered text instead of requiring the size to be managed manually.
The translation text is de-emphasised but still accessible and, I hope, clearly linked to the text it is associated with.
Other controls, like the custom properties and choice conditions, are hidden unless they are needed in a menu just enderneath this text box."

The choice node has choices for if the new style or old is preferred.

The old style of the dialogue and choice nodes, as they were when I used them during the Ludum Dare. There is a lot more padding and additional controls.

Spent a while today playing some #ludumdare #ld57 games. I love the weird and creative things people come up with during short game jams. I guess knowing it’s not a huge commitment gives you the freedom to try things you wouldn’t normally dare!
