Google should come up with a solution to fix the heat and inefficiency issues related to magnetic battery packs. I have a suggestion:

A magnetic powerbank+phone case that go beyond magsafe to bring energy directly from a magnetic battery into the phone via a hybrid approach.

Imagine a battery pack with a few pogo pins embedded around its magsafe ring that could pair with an phone case that has the matching contact pads, along with a wire embedded in the case that goes from the magsafe ring into the phone's usbc port.

Energy from the battery pack could flow directly into the usbc port of the phone, without loose wires, giving both the benefit of a magsafe connection (pocketable, easily removed when not needed, backwards compatible with qi2, works with magnetic accessories like phone grips, car mounts, wallets, etc), along with the benefits of direct contact energy transfer (no loss of energy and much better thermal management). Something like this could handle 25 watts easily, and probably a lot more.

what if there was a battery pack with pogo pins aligned around its magsafe ring that could pair with a phone case that also had the matching contact pads, along with a wire that transferred power directly up into a phone's usbc port, so that, when the magsafe battery pack with pogo pins magnetically attached to the corresponding phone case, it would send power directly into the usbc port of the phone, giving both the benefit of a magsafe connection (pocketable and wireless), along with the benefits of direct contect energy transfer (almost no loss of energy, and improved thermals)

could something like this help address the general wireless charging issue?

Samsung needs to change the camera layout. The Samsung vertical camera layout makes it difficult for magsafe wallets to lay flat when the cameras go so far down the body of the phone. Either do a square or go horizontal, but stop the vertical camera madness and embrace magsafe accessories and cases

draft - I just want to say to Google that I don't know which magnetic case to buy because I'm not sure which one properly aligns with the coils inside of the pixel 8 and for that reason I have to return this anchor maggo magnetic power bank even though I would really like a magnetic power bank. But I guess I can't use a magnetic power bank because out of the hundreds of different magsafe cases for Pixel 8, I don't know which one to buy. The one that I have while it works well enough to attach a magnetic phone grip, it does not work correctly with a magnetic power bank.

and I guess I'm saying that I want to say this to Google because I guess I wish that Google had more or better publicized the specifications so that third-party case makers would have been able to properly place the metal rings or magnetic rings or whatever they are in their cases so that people will be able to use magnetic power Banks properly.

I mean I guess I kind of googled it a little bit and from what I googled maybe the torras case is the one that makes sense but I I don't know if I want to spend the $25 and then is it really going to work or is it not you know I mean I guess in a way I should be blaming Amazon because I bought the case that I do have is from Amazon. I bought it for like $15. It's functioned well enough. You know I like the way it is. I just wish that I guess the magnetic ring inside the case that I had purchased would have been properly lined for a magnetic power bank

So I suppose I could even blame the third party designer that I purchased this case from or whatever, but I don't know. I guess I'm a little bit upset that Google didn't include qi2 in pixel9. Even though I have a pixel8, including qi2 in pixel9 would have given me and other some hope.

And then I could go on and I could start blaming apple and Samsung for not allowing or not having multiple users on their operating systems. Because if they had multiple users on their operating systems then I wouldn't need to have a pixel because the reason I have a pixel is because it supports multiple users. And no, it's not for multiple people. It's for me to have two or three separate spaces on one single phone.

So I hope that the pixel 10 gets magsafe officially. And I also hope that iOS 19 includes multiple users and I also hope that Samsung adds multiple users to its phones.

draft - hey guys, just want to say, if you're currently using the pixel4a, pixel5 series, pixel6a, and want to upgrade to the pixel 8 but aren't sure whether you "should" or not, I just want to say that so far, after about a month with my pixel 8, I'm very happy with it. I got the 256gb pixel 8 when it was on sale, so I saved a nice little to medium chunk of cash, and so, if you're thinking of buying it from Amazon or the google store or whatever, I can say a nice new pixel 8 256gb is a good deal, especially if it's on sale. At the time of purchase I also bought a glass screen protector (2 pack) but they also sell 3 pack versions and I got a case that supports magsafe accessories. I kinda tested out another site for my magsafe phone grip ring thingy and it works great with the phone case. Snaps on and the magnet is very strong. So yeah, if you're in the market for a new pixel 8, and you're thinking about the 256gb version, it may be worth the extra $50 or $60 over the 128gb since now you'll have plenty of space for apps, media, Spotify downloaded playlists etc. You can use the app "apps free" from the play store and select the "free apps" category to see a bunch of cool free apps games etc that are currently free to get started and then obviously there are paid apps and services sometimes, but its nice to get started and expand / supplement your app library with some cool free titles. So yeah. If you only want the 128gb pixel 8 that's cool too. I'm only suggesting 256gb because, yeah, I guess I'm a bit of a stan for the google pixel phone series and I want to see their continued success.

Regarding the pixel 8a, that may be good too. I'm just going off the pixel 8 classic, as that's what I have. Comparing pixel 8 to pixel 8a, supposedly pixel 8 has faster charging (27watt compared to 8a which is only 18watt, along with faster qi charging) I did buy a couple off brand magsafe chargers to test with my magsafe case and it works. Again, people seem to know that regular charging via USBC is better for the battery as it generates much less heat and is faster. But kinda cool nonetheless. Also a couple things ive noticed coming from the pixel 6a is that the device is snappier. I use the multiple users function that stock android on pixel has and so, I wanted an upgrade as well as the 7 years of new android updates that the pixel 8 offers. I also figured the extra charging speed would/might be nice. Keep in mind I got it when it was on sale so Id suggest maybe to try that as well if you can. That way it's a little bit of an easier pill to swallow and you can get some accessories to protect your investment like a glass screen protector, magsafe case, magsafe phone ring thingy, and also, a wrist strap to be extra safe and protect your investment.

As for the magsafe case, I wanted it because I wanted to try out magsafe phone grip accessories. I got my first one and what's nice is the magnet is very strong. I still have a wrist strap connected to the case and use that when kinda holding the phone to be extra safe, whereas the phone grip just sorta makes it easier to handle / hold.

I also like that the pixel 8 has more rounded corners and is slightly smaller than the pixel 7 series.

Thermals and heat management seem to be good so far.

I'm using nova launcher and multiple users etc.

Thanks.
