The sky is beginning to turn yellow and orange in a sunset. The boardwalk is visible with some bench chairs, and the wooden surface is shiny because it's wet from rain. It looks out to the Maitai River which is not very full currently.

I specifically bought these two bottles of rum to make a two-rum blend for my Hawaiian* Mai Tais, but once I got making them, I couldn't resist adding a smidge of OFTD and Clèment Vieux Agricole. They were amazing, but I forgot to add the cherry and pineapple garnishes I had prepared. 😞

* For the Hawaiian Mai Tais, I used pineapple juice acid-adjusted to approximate the tartness of lime.

Two bottles of rum: Plantation Xaymaca from Jamaica and Chairman's Reserve from St Lucia.

Two Mai Tai cocktails, garnished with mint, set in front of bottles of ingredients: orgeat, orange curaçao, and four rums.

Mai Tai in a mirrored nightclub to perform the thoroughly ace "Body and soul".

They'll also be in the studio next week, proving
a) that you can get sex-positive records into the top ten
b) Dutch Caribbean music is awesome
c) the top ten is better with singers called Jetty, Caroline, and Mildred.

Tried out Dale Degroff's variant of the Mai Tai from *Craft of the Cocktail*. It calls for more orange Curacao, and all orgeat rather than half orgeat and half Demerara syrup as I'm used to from Smuggler's Cove.

I had no Jamaican on hand so I used Botran 18, an excellent Guatemalan rum. Degroff also calls for a full 3/4 of Lemon Hart 151 on top of everything else, making this one pretty punchy!

The results are fantastic though. One of the best Mai Tais I have had so far. The 151 blends in perfectly and it's not overpowering.
