To może być najważniejszy moment w polsko-niemieckich relacjach dotyczących dóbr kultury od 1989 roku.
Rząd w Berlinie podjął decyzję o zwrocie Polsce bezcennej kolekcji dokumentów oraz średniowiecznej rzeźby z Malborka. Ministerstwo Kultury mówi o „historycznym przełomie” i już składa wnioski o odzyskanie kolejnych dzieł, w tym rękopisu „Gaude Mater Polonia”.
Decyzja zapadła podczas konsultacji międzyrządowych. Nowa administracja kanclerza Friedricha Merza wykonała gest, o który Polska zabiegała od dziesięcioleci. Minister kultury Marta Cienkowska w rozmowie z „Rzeczpospolitą” podkreśla, że sukces ten jest efektem zaangażowania władz na szczeblu federalnym, co daje nadzieję na trwałą zmianę w podejściu Berlina do kwestii restytucji.
Co wraca do Polski?
Odzyskane obiekty to prawdziwe perły dziedzictwa narodowego:
- 73 dokumenty polsko-krzyżackie: pergaminy z XIII–XV wieku, dokumentujące burzliwe relacje Rzeczypospolitej z Zakonem. Zostały zrabowane w 1940 roku z Archiwum Głównego Akt Dawnych w Warszawie i wywiezione do Królewca, a po wojnie trafiły do Berlina Zachodniego. Polska starała się o ich zwrot już od 1948 roku.
- Głowa św. Jakuba Starszego: fragment gotyckiej rzeźby z ok. 1340 roku, pochodzący z kościoła NMP na zamku w Malborku. Rzeźba została uszkodzona podczas oblężenia w 1945 roku, a jej fragment nielegalnie wywieziono w 1957 roku. Odnalazł się w muzeum w Norymberdze.
Kolejne wnioski na stole: hymn i królewski pierścień
Resort kultury nie zamierza poprzestać na tym sukcesie, również niemieccy oficjele, skoro rozpoczęli ów ruch, powinni go kontynuować. Przy okazji rozmów złożono dziewięć kolejnych wniosków restytucyjnych obejmujących 35 obiektów.
Na liście żądań znajdują się m.in.:
- Fragment rękopisu z zapisem hymnu „Gaude Mater Polonia” (zrabowany z Płocka).
- Rękopiśmienne dzienniki Stefana Żeromskiego.
- Złoty pierścień z diamentem króla Zygmunta I Starego, będący częścią słynnej Szkatuły Królewskiej Izabeli Czartoryskiej, zrabowanej przez Niemców w Sieniawie.
Polscy specjaliści w kwietniu tego roku uzyskali dostęp do Państwowej Biblioteki w Berlinie, co pozwoliło na precyzyjne zbadanie proweniencji przechowywanych tam dokumentów i przygotowanie twardych dowodów na ich polskie pochodzenie.

W załączonym wzorcowym rozkładzie jazdy na rok 2026/7 przewidziany jest póki co takt godzinny Gdynia Gł.-Elbląg (z mniej regularnymi dogęszczeniami) i, uwaga, dwugodzinny takt Malbork-Iława z zatrzymywaniem na wszystkich przystankach, co może być naprawdę niezłym awansem dla takiego Gdakowa (gdzie obecnie w środku dnia można pociągi jedynie oglądać).

The best guarded part of the Malbork stronghold was the High Castle. Surrounded by two lines of walls and a moat, it was connected to the Middle Castle by a drawbridge. The High Castle was closed during the day. It was home to about 50 Teutonic brothers. The castle’s central point was a courtyard surrounded by cloisters with a well in the middle. The ground floor of the castle contained a kitchen, utility rooms and a cell for the most important prisoners. The first floor housed the monks’ rooms, the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the chapter house and the treasury. The convent chamber was located even higher. Grain supplies were hidden in the attics, which were supposed to last two years of a potential siege. A 66-meter watchtower, which was also the church’s bell tower, towered over everything.

The most representative place of the entire complex was the Great Refectory, a huge hall located in the western wing of the Middle Castle. It was in this hall that the Teutonic Knights organized feasts and banquets. The hall, measuring 30m x 15m, was the largest room of its kind in the whole of Central Europe. It could accommodate 400 people. Its magnificent, palm vault is still supported by three slender pillars to this day. The interior design of the room was complemented by windows with colorful stained glass and frescoes, headed by the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the patron saint of the Teutonic Order, located above the main entrance.
