title page of Barb.lat.1912. A title and dedication in a roman hand is enclosed by bizarre borders in an al'antiqua style. It appears that the women have nursing armor. Below is a short block of cursive textf.9v from Ott.lat.1927. A large diagram of a turret clock in black ink is under a few lines of textf.1r from Ott.lat.1999. There is a purple and blue white vine border on all four sides with a heraldic seal at the bottom. There are 4 lines of gold rubric text leading into the main text block which begins with an enormous illuminated I. The main text is alternating blue and gold ink

Associated Press: Timbuktu’s famed manuscripts escaped al-Qaida but the threat remains. “Thirteen years ago, Abdoulaye Cissé risked his life to smuggle tens of thousands of fragile manuscripts out of Timbuktu as al-Qaida -linked extremists swept into the desert town.”

"For one of #Victorian #literature’s most distinctive voices, who was once hailed as a genius by #OscarWilde, very little has been known about #AmyLevy for more than a century.

But audiences will now have the opportunity to become more deeply acquainted with a writer whose pioneering work explored women’s independence, #Jewish identity and same-sex desire.

The #UniversityofCambridge has announced it has acquired and for the first time unsealed Levy’s personal #archive, including #letters, draft #manuscripts, #photographs and #diary entries. It is expected the material will inform a wealth of new #scholarship on her life, work and mental health."
