I fixed an oopsie- an errant set of shelf pin holes got drilled wrong, so this is the fix- cut out a full section of the veneer and then replace it.

A dry fit of the cabinet body. It’s currently on its side. The oopsie has been fixed.

Two opposite corners of the cabinet are being glued together.

In the meantime I’m also working on the marquetry panel that’s going to be in the door. It’s a vaguely art deco design.

This project is a small collection of aerial views of aircraft carriers created in marquetry and then mounted on magnetic plates. It’s the last part.

The aircraft carrier is a symbol of military power, enabling the few states that can afford them to project their armed forces across vast distances in a very short time. I chose to create them in marquetry because it is a prestigious craft associated with a society's ability to procure remarkable materials, often from diverse origins. This craft has, therefore, often flourished under great empires.

As an object, the artwork combines these two characteristics: the power to influence on one side, and the power to aggregate on the other, with the artist positioned at the heart of this conflicting dynamic.

Une veilleuse en bois. C'est un cube et chaque face est faire d'un cadre qui tient une feuille de placage. Le placage très fin laisse passer la lumière depuis l'intérieur de la veilleuse ce qui révèle un veinage et des couleurs intenses. Sur chaque face une deuxième couche de placage empêche la lumière de passer, dessinant une forêt de sapins en négatif.

Ici on travaille fort pour dépasser le freeze du cptsd, la dysfex et les douleurs et on essaye de finir des projets en cours.
Veilleuse jouant avec la transparence de placage 6/10ème de milimètre d'épaisseur.

Je suis vraiment content de l'avoir terminée, elle trainait depuis longtemps et le veinage du bois (de l'olivier et du frêne olivier) mis en valeur par la lumière rends vraiment vraiment bien. Et ça sent vraiment bon !
A l'intérieur de la veilleuse c'est une petite lampe à pile, pas une bougie (ouf)
