I guess I'm at that age where the most popular, well known celebrities may as well be the driver of the county mosquito truck because I have no clue who these people are.
HOWEVER... we have the internet and there, people let me know about a douchebag named #MattRife, who likes making jokes about women getting battered by their partner as part of his stand up routine.
Cue the fuck up by #elf . I'm so very disappointed that e.l.f. Cosmetics decided to go the #AmericanEagle route and deliberately screw the pooch in a marketing campaign. Yeah, they hired that guy Matt Rife in an ad campaign.
And the thing is I've been an e.l.f. girlie since I started using makeup ten years ago. It has in the past been cruelty free, advocated for more women in board rooms, a strong supporter of women's sports, run ads supporting women's rights and bodily autonomy. All things I loved being associated with in spending my money towards.
But then they hire this guy who, from what I've seen as I look into him, is an Andrew Tate disciple.
So if I abandon e.l.f. is that a purity test? Am I being too harsh by not continuing to buy products from and support this company? I bet many would say no. But when I apply the same practice to Gavin, Mayor Pete or Rahm, I get eviscerated in comments as naive, an idiot and applying political purity tests. The DNC needs to unfuck their shit come candidate nominating time.
And I guess I'm looking for a new makeup brand now.
