Actually, just realizing the entire ABC run of the #MaxHeadroom series is missing... and not just in my conversion, but also in the MediaWiki XML dump (from 2022)... and looks like there was some weirdness going on with the site at the time so sometimes the pages are blank on archive.org (like, proper blank wiki pages, not just a bad mirror). Then they show up in 2023 again, which is good, but that'll mean some manual transcription. (That's fine.)
So this might take a bit more reconstruction than originally thought. But that's alright.
What a massive bummer.
The #1 best fan site for #MaxHeadroom history and content, maxheadroom.com has not only vanished, but it looks like the domain got poached.
Someone on /r/MaxHeadroom emailed the guy behind it but hasn't heard back yet.
Still looking into this -- it's still an unfolding development, but man... glad I made backups a while ago. :P
If it turns out the user has fallen off the face of the earth, I might setup a copy of the site (or use it's data as a foundation for a new site).

In a world full of chaos and dystopia and the worst, most incompetent buffoons in office, looking to destroy information pipelines and keep people in the dark, fed on corpo broadcasts and junk TV, be a Blank.

I used to despairingly think we were headed into a Dystopian "20 Minutes Into the Future" timeline where corporations own everything and everyone.
I wasn't expecting to find that following 2024 was actually Nineteen Eighty-Four.
If anyone has of yet not watched Max Headroom... You might want to.
No matter how many times I watch it, Max Headroom still seems to hit that nexus between campy sci-fi prognostication of our future and an actual dystopian documentary that only slightly just misses the mark. And every watch through puts me in a #cyberpunk frame of mind like very few other things can.
Maybe it's the incredibly cheesy mid-80's view of the future and the soap-opera-worthy hammy overacting that lets the real cyberpunk dystopian themes shine through. The futurism is so anachronistic and kinda cringey that I feel like it has the opposite effect and really enhances the ideas of what we thought would happen vs. what we actually got.
In the '80s, TV Networks were the most insidious corporate force we could imagine and who among us could possibly have foreseen companies like Facebook, Amazon, and YouTube effectively supplanting those networks with much more far-reaching evils than mere broadcast television? And now journalism isn't nearly as respected as it was in Max Headroom because the 4th Estate has basically sold itself out by not being able to simply speak any sort of truth.
Boy, #MaxHeadroom gets me fired up! I need to make these re-watches more frequent because these days, they hit so much closer to home with each passing week.
And sweet sisters of mercy, I wish Max were real. But unfortunately the "AI"s we got are more like Bryce's virtual parrot than Max himself.
