A lizard man giddily looks over at someone off screen. He's got morels mushrooms growing from his right eye, some spires of fungus growing from the left side of his head. His neck has shelves of mushrooms growing from it. Clouds of spores drift around him.

"Those bloggers were right." he babbles. "They totally work better when integrated into you body."

"I feel so much more productive. I mean sure they still aren't perfect," he excuses before continuing with "but it just makes everything feel better."

"are you still not using the spores at work," he accused. "You gonna be left behind dude, it's the future."

Spores slowly drift like snow from his mouth before finally saying, "if it's so dangerous why are all the big biz investing in it?"

Im gonna start reviewing stationery, so heres a start!

I picked up a Uni Kuru Toga Advance, mostly because i wanted to see if the improved mechanism is helpful. I currently mainly use a Kuru Toga Alpha Gel, and absolutely love it.

As for the improved mechanism, it does just do the thing better (rotates the lead slowly as your write). I was pleasantly surprised by the retractable lead sleeve, something my Alpha Gel can't do. The overall build is sturdy and the design is pleasant.

HOWEVER.. i cannot reccomend it, as it has one major flaw. That lead sleeve i praised moments ago, has a LOT of play in it. The lead wiggles as you write, which is deeply unpleasant for a picky girl like me as well as making it harder to write accurately. I cannot tell if the Kuru Toga mechanism causes this, or the retracting mechanism. I would be interested to see if the Advance Upgrade has this problem.

I found a mechanical pencil to be an excellent addition to my fountain pens. I'm using one with 0.7 mm lead in 2B, mostly for quick notes that don't need to stick around for a long time (I'm using archival ink for more permanent things). Also, I really like that my mechanical pencil is about as thick as a fountain pen, which I find very pleasant in the hand as opposed to more skinny pens and pencils. Another thing is, when I wanna draw straight lines with my fountain pens and a ruler, I can use the pencil to mark where I want lines to start and stop and since I'm mostly using dark ink, the pencil marks won't show afterwards.

I was looking for a two tone result so I just used one grey and one blue pencil.
The background was too neutral to my taste so I added lines (whose half is) parallel to the directions of lighting and of her eyes.
