I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that one of the Morris sides I used to dance and play with had asked me if I'd be interested in playing for them again. I'm meeting up with a couple of them on Thursday to see if I can help them out. A little more progress in the new studio today. I spent the morning searching through boxes and cupboards trying to find some guitar hangers which I knew I had somewhere. Finally managed to find them and put them up this afternoon, so I've got space to downsize from an 8-guitar rack to a 5-guitar rack, and make some space for some of my diatonic accordions.

Yep, sort of there once I get started but can’t remember how to start unaided. SOP for learning a thing really, a “few” repetitions and it will stick.
Anyone got any recommendations for other catchy Lincolnshire folk tunes? I already have Congress at Laceby, Louth Quickstep and Quickstep From Louth in my normal repertoire.

I’ve just found out that Liam Robinson is playing again, and will be appearing in a trio at the Day of Lincolnshire Folk.
He had stopped around 2015, just as I started, due to illness and there was a whip round in his aid when I went to Melodeons and More, one of the first workshops I attended. A year or so later I picked up all three of his albums and the CDs among the few that lived in my car so they were always available when commuting. Great playing on both one row four stop and D/G, including Lincolnshire tunes that are now among my own favourites to play such as The Louth Quickstep and The Quickstep From Louth (imaginative names, huh?)
The last I heard he was still unable to play, but working tuning/reparing church organs.
So to say I’m pleased is an understatement :-) :-)
Seems I will have to try rearranging my plans so I can make it to Leadenham this year!

In other news, playing and dancing all day today with Red Cuthbert as part of Bedfringe (Bedford Fringe Festival) and tomorrow for the St Cuthbert’s Street Festival… busy busy.

Le Vent Du Nord gig last night was excellent! Great music, great playing. Réjean Brunet played an interesting one (and a half?) row four stop melodeon, which despite being modern had a really archaic looking intermediate bellows frame - it did seem to have a *lot* of folds to the bellows though. Great sounding box too - does anyone know who the maker would have been?

Rounded out my afternoon playing a few Blowzabella tunes, then Ingunn Bjorgo’s Askerladd Pa Avvie and the traditional Bol Olles - which for minor key tunes are both really upbeat and fun to play on the box. (Apologies for lack of accents through haste and fear of error!)

Good music session in the pub last night - it turns out we do know some tunes after all. And we didn’t play speed the bloody Plough so that is a small victory!
I only took my D/G box, so of course others veered us towards French and Northumbrian music… should’ve taken my Serafini and must get back up to speed on my #NSP
