Finished a couple of cleaning cloths inspired by Japanese #zokin cloths nested in a basket I mended with scraps of cloth - because #mendingmatters. The stitched cloths are about four layers of cotton jersey from old t-shirts. Stitched using #plantdyed cotton thread with colorful cotton cloth binding I made from the scraps of quilt I am sewing. Let's keep using our resources to keep them out of landfill.

#mendingmatters to me. Today I fixed up a pillow case and top sheet I love. 100% organic cotton and black 🖤. They're so cozy and wonderful to sleep on.

To me this is #selfcare. It's #communitycare. And it's a tiny way I can make the world a better place for all beings.

With care I can keep a sheet set for 5-7 years instead of the 1-2 industry standard. That means at least 2 new sheet sets don't have to be manufactured. 6k gal water saved plus all the other resources it takes to create new.

At yesterday’s repair cafe an elderly lady brought a couple of items that it was a real privilege to mend. The lady had lost the dexterity to repair her things and brought me a knit fabric dressing gown that her cat had pulled a hole in, which had laddered from the elbow to the wrist and a dress that she’d beautifully made herself which she wanted ribbon sewn on to repair a worn cuffs.
