This morning I have been #metaldetecting on a farm near Croydon where there used to stand a mansion originally built in 1300's and demolished in the 1700's. The land had never been detected before. Intriguing, yes? But not necessarily revealing treasures.
I have found an amazing amount of ring pulls, bottle tops and rubbish. Nothing interesting. The photos are from two holes where I was almost happy but the coins turned out to be from this century.

Today is the international day of finding lost buttons. I went #metaldetecting and was finding buttons and military uniform fastenings, until we were told to get off the field because someone had found a live granade. Fun times.
There's writing on some of the stuff that I found. I'll clean it up and post photos later. I have never found so many buttons in one place before. I mean, what were they doing that all the buttons came off? Fertilising the fields?
