Hier ist noch ein kleines verrostetes Konfettifenster für den #FensterFreitag aus Quedlinburg. Grüße an das zuckende Augenlid! // Here's a small #rusty confetti #window in #Quedlinburg for #WindowFriday. Say hi to that twitching eyelid of yours!

A close-up, vertical shot of a rustic window with an ornate, rusty wrought-iron grille. The window is framed by weathered wooden shutters and has two panes of frosted, patterned glass. A decorative, flower-shaped metal motif with a central flower-like boss is bolted to the front of the vertical window bars. The window ledge below is also made of metal and shows signs of rust and wear. The wall around the window is constructed from old brick and mortar. The image is taken from a straight-on perspective, highlighting the textures of the metal and wood.

Ich kann beides bieten! Hier ist die #Metallskulptur "Die #Biene" von Metallbildhauer Ronald Knoll und im Hintergrund der #NaumburgerDom (UNESCO-Welterbe) // I have both! This is the metal #sculpture "The #Bee" by #metal sculptor Ronald Knoll, and in the background the spires of #Naumburg Cathedral (UNESCO world heritage site)

A striking sculpture of a large, rusty brown insect made of woven metal strips sits on a patch of green grass in the foreground. The insect is facing right, with its head and large, intricate eye visible. In the background, a large, multi-story building with orange-red walls and a red-tiled roof stretches across the middle of the frame. Two green spires of a cathedral rise above the building to the left, and a smaller, green dome is visible to the right. The sky is blue with scattered white clouds, and lush green trees partially obscure the buildings. A couple of people are walking on a path in the distance.A close-up of a large, rusty brown sculpture of a bee, positioned on a patch of green grass. The sculpture is made of woven, corroded metal strips, giving it a weathered and rustic appearance. Its body is composed of several sections, including a large, dome-like head with a crosshatch pattern and long antennae. The insect's wings are delicate and made from thin wires, while its powerful hind legs are textured with metal plates. Behind the sculpture is a dense wall of green foliage, providing a natural backdrop under a bright sky.

😋 // #Memorial for entomologist and illustrator #JohannesGoedaert in Molenwater Park in his hometown Middelburg. The three volumes of his book, 𝘔𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴, were published between 1662-1669. They were a great success at the time, but almost forgotten for 400 years. The human genitalia depicted are not from his original illustrations. I think. 😋

A close-up of a weathered, rectangular metal sign displaying text and cut-out shapes, partially obscured by green foliage with small red berries. The top of the sign reads "METAMORPHOSIS NATURALIS" with smaller flying insect cut-outs. Below that, in a cursive font, it says "So dat men met verwonderinghe siet". The lower half of the sign features larger cut-outs of what appears to be a butterfly and other natural forms. The metal has a rusted, earthy tone, and a rough concrete wall is visible behind the plants at the bottom.

@geerlingguy I think it's rather a matter of cheap options...

485mm = 19" is having enough space [15mm total] to have enough room to make something 500mm wide outside with good tolerances...

  • So 2x 5-7,5mm material strenght gets you the 19" inside and the 500mm outside depending on the wiggle room desired...

It's also the reason why 19"/485mm gets adopted in #metric areas because even #metrified it's loose enough and tight enough for the desired use-case.

  • It's just a happy coincidence that these seem to align, plus most suppliers will have 19" as a standard form factor - or do you think #IKEA is setting up their own #production plants like #metalworks? Hell no!

Recently, we’ve spent a bit of your contributions, and today we welcomed a brand new lathe! It’s the full package, complete with a DRO on support and a steady rest. And guess what? It’s red! That means it’ll be faster and fiercer! Can’t wait to put it to work on our projects!

A mid-sized, benchtop lathe machine by SP2127-II, placed against a workshop wall with tools hanging in the background. The lathe has a red and black casing, with control levers and dials on the left side and the tool holder and chuck in the middle. The machine bed and rails are cleanly aligned, with a digital readout positioned above the chuck for precision. Various tools like screwdrivers, pliers, and measuring instruments are mounted on the wall, indicating an active workshop environment.A close-up of a lathe driver interface labeled "ADR 10-2" by Atek. This rectangular, grey control panel features a double display at the top with labels "Xo Sx" and "Zo Sz" in yellow and black for different axes. A keypad with various function buttons, including numerical keys and directional arrows, occupies the right side. Labels on the keys indicate specialized functions for lathe operations, such as EDM, Axis4, and calibration. The control panel is placed on a slightly cluttered workshop table, hinting at active or recent usage in a machining environment.

Some new aluminium milled parts for the AXIOM Beta Compact enclosure arrived. Another step closer.

They look and feel absolutely gorgeous by the way.
