A #hurricane so small that it could not be observed by #satellite formed this weekend, surprising #meteorologists and even forecasters at the #NationalHurricaneCenter.
#HurricaneOscar developed on Saturday near #Turks and #Caicos, and to the northeast of #Cuba, in the extreme southwestern #AtlanticOcean. As of Saturday evening, hurricane-force winds extended just 5 miles (8 km) from the center of the storm.

👀 JHC. As Hurricane #Milton approaches Florida #meteorologists are staying awake for days at a time trying to get vital, life-saving information out to the folks who will be affected. That’s their job. @lmc Interesting to see the amount of time given to reporting traffic and weather in the San Francisco and Los Angeles news you tuned in to. (SF, 5 mins traffic, 5 mins weather; LA, 10 mins traffic, 20 mins weather).
We’d be even more interested in hearing whether any of the #meteorologists or other #wx reporters commented on impact of traffic/transportation on #weather. As we noted in https://bikemonterey.org/climate-change-why-speak-up-for-cycling.html:
